Make it eleven to allow for a slower riding average.w00dsy wrote:i think about 10.30'ish would be about average.
And I have been told females tend to sit longer at the coffee table..wallaby wrote: Just a question - roughly how long do the rides last for (I know it depends on the slowest rider (which I am 100% certain will be me! ) but just a rough guide please), so what time do you tend to arrive back in Pt Cook? Just so I can give hubby a rough ETA.
So just tell your hubby, you wil be back by lunchtime..

If I come along, don't worry about a route, as I know that area very well.Ozzie wrote:Hi guys and wallaby. Great to see some new faces out today and a good group of 9 riders. As mentioned on the ride back as we have a couple out next week we may have a change of direction and look at a 60-80 km ride out towards Lara and the You Yangs. Matt its with you to come up with a route as your leading the way next Saturday. Hope you all have a good week at work. Catch you all for our 8 0'clock start next Saturday before our ride up Mt Macedon Sunday. Regards Colin.

The area is prone to wind, so its either a head or tail wind. Open to other suggestions re: the route, or if you want me to send an image of the route, PM me your email. If everyone wants to keep doing the Willi loop that's fine with me!
Let me know what you all think.

Why not ?
Rods bakery in lara is perfect for this..
After passing the base of the youyangs just go left and you wil hit lara in 7km..
It's worth it..

mattg wrote:Rod's bakery sounds great, however the route I suggested went to Branch Rd and then headed back to Point Cook, wasn't going as south as Lara. I suppose we can see how the legs are feeling on Sat and make the decision mid ride. Gotta keep some in the tank for the charity ride on Sun!
Wel, it is not that far south, and on the way back, there is the option of grabbing a bit of freeway,
meaning it won't influence the total amount of k's.
(travelling along melbourne road/little river rd, adding only a couple of k's freeway)

I done a quick calculation, via bikely.
I compared travelling back via branch road to point cook, with travelling via lara and freeway.
And the differences are minimal.
Edit, going back via lara makes a total of 80km (via freeway)
Going back via lara without freeway is 90 km.

I have often rode out this way with Hooly and totally agree with his suggestion that a stop at Lara bakery is a must. It's is a good ride on mostly quiet roads.

We might even get a decent amount of riders for our first attempt on a longer ride..
I wil be there..
on a side note, who is willing to go to the top of the youyangs with me..
While I am there, i 'have' to go the top.

When you say 'go to the top of the You Yangs', do you mean ride to turntable and walk to the peak or just ride to turntable?damhooligan wrote:Looks like the bakery is gaining in support..
