Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesRe: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesThe Amy Gillett has a number of average speed options when signing up, can I suggest 25-30km/h for us ? (Gisborne ride was around this average...)
Also going for the 120km. Ecosse
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesI have registered for January's ride. Who's in ?
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesi've signed up as well, 120km in the 25-29kph group.
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesLukes just signed up today also.
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend rides
Can anyone remember the other speed brackets? 25-29kph sounds about right for me, but just curious on the other speeds to let some other guys know. Haven't been able to get confirmation from the others, just a few who are 'keen'... just to get them to commit now. ![]()
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesJust signed up for the 120km (25-29km/h).
For information, go through the registration process and there is a page where you can choose your preferred average speed. Ecosse
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesyeah, I was just being a bit lazy, went to check, seen I had to go through the registration set up, so decided to ask here first.
Will check when I sign up in the next few days... ![]()

Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesI know it's a bit late but same time and place for tomorrow?? Finally some decent weather so count me in!
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesGood solid ride today gents with eight riders in total thanks to the wind yet again.
So next week weather permitting we leave at 7.30 from Degani for a ride to Williamstown over the punt to Port Melbourne then down to Mordiallic and back returning the same way. If the weather looks dodgy late in the week we will do the usual run leaving usual time. So who is keen ?
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend rides
Thought I would just map out my usual ride on Bikely.com to let you see which roads I take, but after an hour and a half of setting out and adding commentary at all the points, it wouldn't save, then when I clicked on the Forum to check if anyone else was having issues, I lost the route. For some reason it wouldn't recognise Geelong as a city, so couldn't save the route. Very annoying, 90 minutes of time lost forever... Seems like it had 'logged me out' whilst I was creating the route. Hopefully will get the route plotted soon... when I calm down ![]()
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend rides
Hey fellas, awesome ride, it's always good to get on the saddle and ride with a great bunch of guys..plus the views we had a Williamstown wasn't too bad if the weather holds up this weekend, count me in for a centuty ride..
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend rides
I think that the punt starts at 9:00am at the weekends and its about 1 hour from PC to Newport. Either leave PC at 8:00 and catch the punt or leave earlier and go around via Footscray Road and Docklands. Its also a good 30km from the punt landing down through Port Melbourne, Beach Road to Mordiallic. A round trip of about 110km from PC so no problem... Weather already looks a bit iffy for the weekend unfortunately. Don
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesHi gents I'm easy I'm up early anyways. Why dont we leave at 7.30 we can always get a coffee in Willie if a bit early for the punt saves missing the thing if we hit some wind on the way ? Whats everyones thoughts ?
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesGents, 7.30 or 8.00 whats the departure time? Is the Mordi ride still on or is the weather turning everyone off? Happy to go along with either, just got plans for the afternoon so would like to know what time expected back. See you all Sat
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesAll right gents let's help matt out who's committed to this Saturday 7.30 departure to mordiallac and back regardless of weather. If the weather is a shocker we can always turn back at Willie. I'm in !! Colin.
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend rideslooks like i might be working..
if not i support that ride that is organised. The dutch have one word to describe the aussie MHL, this word is ;

Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend rides7:30am start, see you there. Managed to plot the route on Bikely, have a look at:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/po ... mordialloc Westgate Punt details at: http://www.westgatepunt.com/ p.s. when does the coffee shop in Willie open.... Don
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesHi Don usual coffee shop might not be open but worse case scenario there is some others near the bakery down the shopping strip. If we get desperate we can always find the nearest McCafe.
Re: Point Cook (Melb) weekend ridesThats what I like.... decisions. Mordi ride is a go! Don, you mentioned that if we get to the punt to early, we could head to Port Melb via Footscray Road?, we may want to look at that as if the weather is hot we might have to battle a heap of traffic (other riders / disgruntled locals) along Beach Road on the return trip. Just my 2 cents - happy either way.
