Hi all,
I've just moved to Melbourne and am staying in Point Cook for the moment and would be really keen on joining you for the Australia day ride if it goes ahead.
Cheers

Could be up for an early morning ride on Thursday (got a BBQ later...). More importantly, will any coffee shops be open?

Worst Case Scenario we could always head down to a McCafe?

no doubt this has been posted elsewhere on the forums, but as i only really look in this thread, you guys might get a kick out of this. I know there's a few i'm guilty of, especially the snot and spit. I got spat on by a guy i passed not too long ago. He didn't know i was there, i got sprayed.

Hi all, I have been living in Pt Cook for 8 years now and been riding solo mainly out to Anakie/You Yangs and never even thought to look up if there were group rides in the area until recently. Great to see rides being organised, will see about joining in. Cheers

Yes !
that would be me..
I have made some route alterations.
1; As i dont like the crossing we need to make in spotswood followed by the crappy road conditions, i have made up an alternative.
This way we cross mayor intersections easier, by simply crossing them at the lights.
2; Sanctuarly lakes boulevard is now fully open, wich makes for a nice ride that way.
also if we go onto the bike path at altona beach, we avoid those mayor roads, like point cook road completely.
Great to meet some of you yesterday for the Aust Day Ride to Docklands, just as a matter of interrest I have mapped out my usual ride to the You Yangs and back ~70km round trip, you can either use the low incline 2-3% 5km approach to the car park for intervals or the climb up to the top of the You Yangs 6% average for a short sharp grind on the legs. I use the ride to the You Yangs as a base ride and either do intervals or do a loop around which adds around another 48km to the trip for the longer ride time when I am a bit fitter.

this is my preferred youyangs ride, as I dont go back the same way, I make a nice loop.
This way I also include a stop at the bakery with only 8km added..
Hey lads. will be there bright and early 8am. see you then

enjoyable ride today despite the heat towards the end. Pro cycling tip from a non pro cyclist, an energy drink, water and then a milkshake dont play nice in the stomach. It's been an interesting last half hour.

Thanks for the ride guys..
I do however want to take the opportunity to apologise.
The way I spoke at willy was not nice, and it won't happen again.
That being said, I stil remain with the point I was trying to make.
And would like to discuss it to avoid future misunderstandings.
I look at this ride as a social group ride.
This means we should ride as slow as the slowest rider, if you can't slow down, you might have to consider joining a different group.
For those that have a speedo and are at the front,as a guidline I suggest keeping it at a speed of 30km, as this results in an average of 25km/h, wich suits most riders.
I would like to make this ride appealing for new riders, and we cant do this if half the group is to far ahead, or to far back.
To accomodate the faster ones, we can stil have our sprint session at kororoit creek road.
But it is appreciated that the sections before and after we stay together as a group.
I would like to discuss this here, cause if there are to many people with a different opinion then the above, wich is not a problem.
However, I am not interested in having this being repeated again.
Secondly, I hope you liked the new route, as I personaly tough that went well.
Thoughts on improvement are always welcome.
