You can always pay for the 250 , but ride the 210...Redbull wrote:Do the 250, you will find it ultimately rewarding.
Or, pay for the 130 and do the 210..., is also a lot cheaper...

short answer: yep.cjawnik wrote:Is the 250km route really as flat as everyone makes out?
Long answer: yep.
Qualified answer: It is! There are only two 'climbs' worth mentioning - the climb up the Westgate Bridge, and the ascent coming into Mornington. Both of which are, at a guess, around 5-6%. Mornington is only a P.I.T.A. because you've got 190+km in your legs at that stage.
Weather is the trickier issue - last year there was a terrible headwind and drizzle for most of the day, and in previous years there's been 35+ degrees sweat-fests.

Rob doesn't like doing long distance, tried to talk him into fitz's in the Berra, wouldn't go over 165km.Redbull wrote:C'mon Rob, if a fat bugger like me can do it so can you.RobRollin wrote:Just paid for my ticket, 250km, Queenscliffe....only because 210 was sold out, although Im only doing 210km.
I've got a friend doing it for the first time so for moral support I'm going to ride down the east side of the bay and meet them for the return, I'm not paying the cash, mostly cause I can't afford it

Did the 100km last year on a hybrid/possibleBSO last year and almost killed myself getting up that hill into Mt Martha. My LBS still can't believe I did the ride on that thing.
Looking forward to riding double the distance and actually averaging more than 18kmph this year.
Not looking forward to the leg cramps getting back on the bike after the ferry....

If anyone has a 250km ride ticket that they don't want anymore I have a mate who is looking for one. I think this sold out around Thursday.

I guess all I can do make sure my bigger training rides have a long break in the middle to get used to getting back on the bike.

Stupid thing is that they don't have transport to Geelong, and it ends in Melbourne. How do I pick up my car.
Anyone with any ideas for getting up there (instead of staying the night day before, which at the moment is our only option).
