mate did the phillip island one earlier this year, loved it. if you have any kind of base fitness you will be fine. a mate of mine who had never ran more than 10k in his life smashed this out with about 6 weeks of training with me, loved it. i would recommend it to anyone. sign up and have fun! but remember...you sign a death waiver at the beginning!

Wish I could do it next year, will be about 3 months short of the age limit (18) - 2014 it is!

toughest part of the course, hmmmm. probably the running through fire. that actually hurt the eyes abit. but the physical challenges i would say the back end of the course where the berlin walls are. after 15 odd k's of running solid and having to get over them it was touygh,. but thats why you have your team mates there, to help.
also the muddy hills were the worst, our team spent at least 15mins trying to get up them with a fair few others and that part is all about team work. you cant just run and jump because you slip, you;ve gotta hold hands and use your body weight strategically. but thats all i can say about it, it was just fun the entire time!

I found the crawl under the barb wire tough. Couldn't get on your knees cause the wire was so low. All upper body there. Everything else I was fine. This is most assuredly about endurance. Get a team together but everyone helps everyone during the course. Agree the Berlin walls can be tough but if you're pretty fit with upper body strength then you can clear them no problems. I did it on the Saturday and it was chocas. A lot of waiting around. If I had a choice is do it on the Sunday which is less populated and you can get it done much quicker. One thing that caught me out we're blisters. Tape your feet! The best gear I can recommend is a triathlon wetsuit. Something that's half wet suit but free enough you can run in (but covers the knees cause mine got cut and bruised up). Thats just my preference if I was doing it again. It did get quite cold but tm13 is in january so may not be a factor.
