Postby Ross » Fri Apr 26, 2013 8:34 am

A MELBOURNE cyclist riding on a footpath has been struck by a car which sped off, dragging his bike metres down the road.

Police say the 29-year-old was cycling on a footpath in southeastern Scoresby at the time of the incident.

He was thrown from his bike, suffering a suspected broken ankle. His bike was dragged 17 metres away by the red sedan as the driver fled the scene.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the collision about 6pm (AEST) on Thursday.

That's just screwed up. I got doored two weeks ago while doing about 30-35kph, flung off my bike onto the path of traffic. Thank goodness the cars were advancing from a red light, and the lad who hit me was responsible enough to stay... Ride safe fellas, hope the driver gets caught.
