Yarra Valley cyclist friendly eatieries

Postby Mezzo90-cyclist » Wed Dec 18, 2013 11:44 am

Hi all,

Thinking of a good long ride to yarra valley during next week while I'm on holidays.

Anyone know of a good little cafe`/ eatery that is lycra friendly up that way?

You'll be welcomed at just about any place from Lilydale to Healesville ...and I reckon many of the wineries, too!

What areas are we ranging over? I don't have many regulars north but the Warburton Pantry is good and the Emerald General Food Store has great food and excellent coffee.

Cheers guys!

I'm looking at getting some extra climbs into the legs before the alpine classic, so I'll be going through the dandenongs then towards maroondah hwy most likely.

Should be a good ride, about 130km round trip from my place; just want a nice coffee and Danish for the rerun trip !!

Haven't always found them the friendliest, maybe its dripping sweat and wearing lycra that turns them off (i dunno!), but they do great coffee, magnificent baguette and to not harm any other patrons I always try and sit outside.

Fortnum's in Sassafras. Cog's in Warburton. The bakery in the old service station at Warburton is also great for good tucker. Probably a bit out of the route you're riding but the Cooks Corner Cafe in the old general store is really nice.

Thats the one. We go there whilst at work sometimes usually arrive before they are officically open. Never a problem sitting inside waiting for the machine to heat up.
The muesli with yoghurt rocks!
Ditto sit outside when riding ...in summer.
