Cyclist dies in the Dandenongs

Anybody know exactly what happened? As a regular user of that route, I'm a bit shocked that it could have happened - there but for the grace of God and all that. Can only imagine the cyclists were haring down the hill, as we all do, and were simply not seen by the driver until too late. Tragic.

The driver is being charged with fail to give way but I dont expect it will get far given the circumstances.
Just down from the Kalorama General store on a bend you will see small yellow markings on the road. Check it out for yourselves and you'll see what I mean.

I cycled past it on Saturday, the driveway is really steep and cut into the hill so there's no way anybody could easily see the traffic without edging out a little bit. It's also on a really bad, blind corner so it seems like whoever was pulling out must have clipped the cyclist coming round the corner. There's yellow marks painted on the road where it happened, there was also a pic of the two mangled bikes in the local free paper this week in the Dandenongs, the wheel of one of the bikes is utterly destroyed.
