Normanby Pedestrian Cycle LinkI thought I might show case this Project that the Qld Gov is building at the moment, It is most proably the most expensive Bikeway project in Australia . The Link which is on the edge of the CBD is costing $15.8million and is only 400 metres long! This works out to be $37 500 a metre. The link is due to be finished in july.

They wouldn't care anyway, they've got wires hanging out of their head, that makes them somehow special.
Well there is no cycle lane, it is shared. I am morew worried about the Pea brained private school children using it taking up the hole path.

can a coupla dozen riders get together and open it properly ...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

AS one of us is about to use this thing on a regular basis I thought I might put up an update on the progress of the useage of the Normanby cycle link. Current stated figures are 500 ped and 250 cycle movements a day. Certainly not a great figure as yet but it's better than nothing.
Oh we better put down the plus 1. Donald Last edited by beauyboy on Sat May 17, 2008 5:41 pm, edited 1 time in total.

However whenever a path is put in, initially the numbers will be low and then they will build over the next 5 years or so.
I've got stuff on ebay
the numbers might be higher if there was not so much work on the northside. OH well.

Beauy Boy - where did you get the numbers?
I have seen BCC council minutes discussing investigating purchasing cycle/ped counters (not inductive loops which don't do peds or some carbon bikes) but was not aware that counters have been installed or that any data has been published.
Well maybe I should not of said released, maybe better of said that is what I have been told.

AhhhhSoooo! Very inscrutable this Lord Mayor Newman.
Builds (some) bicycle infrastructure but won't tell how many use it in case the cyclist are shown to be justified in asking for more (Schnoell Bridge) State Government - Normandy underpass, Toowong Bridge (started)
Oh good thanks for the info that the toowong roundabout crossing has begun.
I also can tell you how many movements are happening on the Green Schnoell Bridge. The figures I got last year were 1000 cyclist movements per day. Donald BCC give us some more bikeways fore safe travel!!!!

Thanks for the info on the Schonell Bridge - 1000/day! I have asked BCC/UQ/QTransport/Translink for that information in the past and have not been given access to it.
Is that about half as much as the Coronation Drive/Riverside bikepath? Interesting that comparison given that some of the Coro users would have switched to the Goodwill as the UQ-City distance via the Goodwill is about half that on the Coro.
