It doesn't look quite like the examples from the AustRoads guide to traffic engineering practice part 14
(see this
thread). In your example, there is no marked green pathway into the head/start storage area that vehicles have to keep off. It looks like the cyclist has to ride across the pedestrian crossing to get to the storage area - but that is strictly illegal. Do they expect the cyclist will dismount and walk over to the storage box ? Might be worth asking the relevant council what they were thinking, and suggest that paint a green strip across to the box from the cycleway on the right side of the road.
Still you're doing well. These rules have been applicable in NSW since Feb 08, and I've yet to see anything like a head start/storage area. That's a great shame, because I think they can be instrumental in educating motorists on cyclist rights and mitigating some of the dangerous situations that occur at intersections.
