Ladies Retro Bikes

Postby Cantonalex81 » Sun Jul 25, 2010 7:43 pm

Hi guys,
we're new comers in Brisbane and together with my girlfriend we'll be living here for many years (work reasons).
We come from a town in Italy (Ferrara) nicknamed 'Bicycle town' :) ( http://italy-travel.suite101.com/articl ... of-cycling ) I suggest everybody to have a look on the website!
I've bought a bike here but my girlfriend is still looking for one, possibly retro style with basket on front.
Is there a good way to buy a bike like this here in Brissie (or in the surrounding areas)? We've already been to 99bikes in Chermside but we didn't find anything. I've sought on Internet (ebay, indianbicycleshop, etc.) but there's a very limited choice.
Can anyone help us? Even used it would be ok!!
Thanks for your help!

There is a shop at Bardon that might have what you need, but I can't recall their name.... they have a Fiat Bambino in the front of the shop, you can't miss it.

There is also Ridgeway Cycles on Stafford Rd, Everton Park, they are very helpfull and have all sorts of retro-style bikes, as well as dragsters, cruisers, bmx, mtb, road, etc.....

Bicycle Revolution in West End specialises in restored retro bikes, particularly ladies bikes. If you want to spend more money there is New Farm Bikes. They carry Gazelle and Electra bikes.

If you can get to bicycle revolution I think they will have what you are after, they have built some lovely bikes there and Jens really knows his stuff.

Or you can buy a restored ladies bike from us, we started the craze here in Australia and have restored more ladies bikes i.e completely rebuilt and repainted than anybody in the world! I'm surprised nobody on this forum has pointed you in our direction, pm me or visit our website or contact us through ebay, Shipping to you in Brisbane is only $55. But yes if you want to buy from Brisbane Jens would know his stuff, he used to work with Laurie and got the idea from us! Jens is a good mechanic and you can never be too careful as there are a lot of hoaxes out there.

Here's a link to our picture gallery of bikes repainted and sold (we have another picture gallery of a few hundred more restored bikes but they're not repainted).
