I'm definitely going to have a crack at it. I ended up riding about 160km in total on the B2GC, so I figure the Ippy160 can't be any more difficult.

Sounds like a nice ride. Bring it on!

If I can get my feet sorted I'll do the 100mile version :).

It's actually only a couple of weeks after the mt cootha challenge too.

Anyone wishing to do training rides and live SE of Brissie can do this route. Today we did 100km's around Mt Cotton. Route is here http://ridewithgps.com/routes/266944
Plenty of climbs to keep the legs honest. We did two loops and stopping for coffee at the Nursery near Mt Cotton second time around. There is a very very steep climb section that is near a quarry on West Mount Cotton Road and couple of the guys with garmins were reading between 20 and 30% (veloroutes reckon its 30% plus). Thank goodness didn't go for long and we all had to stand hard on the pedals to get up.

Should do three laps nearer to the event and will be ready :)

Best part of all traffic was not a problem the whole journey and were very courteous.

Registered for the 100 mile 8)

cheers

I'm in for the 100 miles. Better catch that red triangle before the end of this month.

What a dilemma.
Will i register for the imperial century, which has better hills and scenery but is a bit too far for me.
Or just register for the metric century, which is a more realistic distance but not as exciting :?:

Better off finishing on the bike than finishing in the sag wagon! I'm coming down with an extra to share the driving down and back, it'll be his first 100km and i know i'm not ready for 160km hence doing the 100km again.....but faster i hope :)

I'm struggling with this too. At this point I think I'll do the 100k and see what condition I'm in afterwards. There is a 100miler at noosa in may to try if i want.

Events:
Piccolo Fondo = 57km
Fondo = 136km
Gran Fondo = 177km

Can highly recommend this as the country you ride in is just beautiful.

I'm signing up for the 100k ride, I'll be doing it by myself as hubby is going to do the 100mile ride and my riding buddy isn't signing up :(

Looking forward to getting the 100k milestone ticked off!

As stated earlier, doing the 100 miler.. Done a nice flat 100km in 3:30 Hrs ( http://connect.garmin.com/page/transfer ... id=1082765 ) on Sunday into the sthly then home with a cross wind... Might do a slightly hillier 100-120 next sunday and ease off from that point.

What do you guys (and gals) think, doing 2 to 3 100km rides in the lead up be good enough training for the 100 miler or should I be looking at more? Just dont want to over do it in the month leading up and pick up a dodgy knee or something!!

If you don't meet the cut off times you can join me on the 100k leg!

I'm sure that on the day there'll be heaps of encouragement from other riders and marshalls to keep going...easier to keep going when there's a bunch egging you on!

Maybe next year I'll be up for the 100mile

Hi,

No, out of the group that I often ride with, the ones who are doing it are much faster than I am and the other slowbies aren't planning on it.

Lol (AT) the term slobies! Plausibly true, but harsh none the less!

There was a guy giving out flyers for this on my bike path this morning. That's targeted marketing for you.

Just before you get to the Mt Alford Hotel there is a monumental descent, which will frighten the living daylights out of you.

But then you can relax in the beer garden and watch the lycra whiz past.

Can you book the Sag wagon to pick you up at the pub ?

Was going to do 120km today, but am not going to sit on the bike for over 4 hours in the rain today so I will have to go into the big one with 1 less ride under the belt!

Posted this on the Mt Coot-tha thread but If anyone is interested we are doing two Mt Cotton loops next Saturday in preparation for the Ipswich ride. We start at 8 mile plains, off to underwood, spring wood, daisy hill, cornubia, west Mt Cotton road, back to underwood and repeat. Plenty of hill training as you will get plenty of hills to climb on the ride.

If you are interested it will be probably a 5:30 or 6am start on Sat, pm me if interested. Half the group are only doing one lap as they are only doing the 100km.

Cheers
