To All Bike Riders, In response to the Queensland Flood Crisis I have asked our Brisbane BMW and Westside BMW cycling ambassador Robbie McEwen to host a casual bike ride in Brisbane next week after the Tour Down Under to assist in raising much needed funds for flood relief.

Not only has Robbie agreed to attend but he has arranged for his fellow Radio Shack team mate, the one and only Lance Armstrong to be part of this ride. This is an amazing show of support from Lance and Robbie.

The event is going to occur on Monday 24th January around 11am (for obvious reasons the exact location, times and details will be announced shortly).

Please keep the time free in your diary and let as many of your family, friends, colleagues and fellow bike riders know of this amazing opportunity. Yours sincerely,

Not the most well thought out meeting place or day or time, but from there I'd say over to Kelvin Grove Rd, Old Northern Rd, Strathpine, Lawnton, Petrie, Anzac Ave, Redcliffe waterfront, Brighton, Sandgate, Sandgate Rd. Perhaps over the Story Bridge and down Wynnum Rd to some bayside loop could be a good route.

It all seems a bit rushed and certainly would have been a great idea for Australia Day. Fortunately I have Monday off.

The start point probably has a lot to do with making sure only those that pay get to ride - no freeloaders tagging along. Route probably wont be made public for the same reason.

Registrations are now open for cyclists to sign-up to the 25km Queensland Ride Relief fundraiser with a $50 entry donation per rider. The charity event is expected to raise up to $500,000 for the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal.

Lance and Robbie will fly into Brisbane this Monday to lead the ride, after completing the Tour Down Under in Adelaide the day prior.

The ride will depart from the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane, head out of the city over the Story Bridge down Wynnum Rd and wind through Bulimba back over the Story Bridge, returning to the Showgrounds by 12pm.

Impromptu twitter ride my backside! How much of the donations are going to the Premiers Appeal with the way this has been organised? I knew BMW drivers had earned their reputation but the whole things just stupid!
If they held it on a Saturday and asked all those who turned up for coin donations they would double the amount taken. I garantee it!

What if it is a marketing ploy? It was always going to look like it was, why, because they are high profile sportsmen, so they're doomed if they do and doomed if they don't!

Sponsorship is an amazing thing. If you don't do what the boss says, they stop sponsoring you. Figure that!

Bad timing on their part, but good on them for doing something to help raise funds.
