Did get a good MTB ride in though, once wet, stay wet... :D
Tuesday 11th shoes still not drying at all. The GLW not very impressed with the grit in the washing, or was it the forgotten banana skin.
If you don't get those shoes dry soon they are going to take on a very very special aroma.
Any suggestions on how to dry them? The hairdryer is my current idea...

p.s. Happy Birthday Luke

Stuff them with screwed up newspaper and change it ever few hours. Capillary action will do the rest.

After my enforced time off the bike lately, there was no way I wasn't riding today. Showed up for the regular group ride (riverloop) this morning, numbers were poor. Myself, AmyInBrisbane, and three others. Was quite a pleasant ride actually - the roads were wet but not streaming, didn't get wet feet. No rain. Followed that up with a cruise in to work.

Went out a bit harder on the return commute this arvo - got swift confirmation of how much fitness I've lost. :( Ticked over 5000km for the year today, a month later than I should've.

Just got home...it started to rain 5 minutes after I got in. :D

Day off tomorrow (sposed to rain and be horrible anyway), acupuncture and massage to try and improve the remaining issues, then ride Thursday, nothing Friday, then morning ride in Stanthorpe on Saturday. That's the plan anyway. Reckon the weather will cooperate?

Oh, and another Happy Birthday to Luke.

The more this week continues the more I think wiki needs an update...
However, most of the Queensland populace experience two weather seasons: a "winter" period of rather warm temperatures and minimal rainfall and a sultry summer period of hot, sticky temperatures and higher levels of rainfall.

Cheers fellas and gal :P

If the shoes are carbon fibre soles keep the hairdryer away from them :P But what singlespeedscott said with scrunched up newspaper really does the job.

Oven. Yes I'm serious, if you can get it down to 70ish deg. If you go too high the plastics may weaken.
As an example my Bont's are heat moldable and need to be placed in 100deg oven to be molded, so they are generally safe to 'çook' in the low range.

Thanks for the info, they have now been relocated to the vicinity of the tumble dryer, which is really earning its keep at the moment.
It worked for her trainers that got soaked.
The wife refused the newspaper idea as I might get print on my socks! She must be obeyed!

So anyway, I will have a look at the oven idea, I have done it with trainers on Fraser island, never gave it a thought this time.

BIG +1, if it wasn't for getting a ride in yesterday i'd be doing my best impression of Jack Nicholson in 'the shining' by now.

Was a beautiful day yesterday, had some wet roads but no rain and got a great ride in. But after only that one solitary day, it's back to grey drizzle again  .

I am almost wanting the cold weather in the mornings just to get some fine sunny rainless days. I know the showery days keeps the temp up but this is ridiculous. The commute mornings next week will be a shock to the system :o , down to 8's and 9's.

Could scarcely believe it this morning woke up to find an absence of vertical precipitation.
Roads still rather damp.
Freaky warm temperatures - what happened to winter

Anyhow just to prove it was possible to get out this morning...

Excuses time.

Jason, my steel-frame bike does not like the rain, supposedly because of rust issues.
However, it is more than happy to be left out in the sun, unlike some of those CF jobbies.

BTW, your Coottha piccy is bigger than mine.

my monitor is probably bigger than yours too - i did reduce it to 800 pixels wide when I uploaded it

am happy to have 2 bikes - my commuter flat bar that gets ridden in all weather
and the roadie that gets ridden on longer rides/when the weather is nice
like this morning. about damn time!
