I guess this is one way of getting the sun out, me getting rollers to beat the rain
Qld weather venting postsRe: Qld weather venting postsI finally gave in and decided to go to my LBS to buy some rollers. They've sold out. One of the guys working there is bringing his in for me to pick up tomorrow to try out.

Re: Qld weather venting postsGot lucky this morning - attended the Chappy Challenge 65km ride in Boonah and the rain held off until almost 9am.
By which time most of the riders were back at the start and conversing over coffee Admittedly we were all a bit damp because as soon as you get off the bike your shoes sink into the mud and wet. And of course there was a lot of spray off the wet roads. Hows this for an almost-dry road and before the penultimate leg of the event - Ganthorpe Rd, which we were warned would be full of potholes and partially under water. Actually it was not too bad... The drive back to Brisbane northside was quite hairy - lots of rain, surface water and the usual numbskull driving Recent Favorite rides:

Re: Qld weather venting posts
Hadn't heard about this ride Elantra but looks good. Might join in with you next year.
Re: Qld weather venting postsFinally fitted the mud guards to my fix gear and went for a ride today. It's been 10 days since I have ridden and I was going stir crazy.
Mud guards were great. No spray in the face, no spray on the feet and no skunk mark up the back. Got home wet but clean, not muddy from the pot holed farm tracks I rode. ![]()
Re: Qld weather venting posts
Rats! In the Woods? I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.
Re: Qld weather venting posts

Ah cool, I think I've seen that, sometimes along Mt Nebo road you can see it over the edge down the hill a bit? ![]()
Re: Qld weather venting postsIf i have to spend another hour long run sweating in my undies on the indoor trainer, I think I will explode.
When will this crappy weather end????? Work is something I do in between cycling.
Bikes: 1 x Steel 26” Cruiser, 2 x Alloy Roadies, 1 x Full Carbon Roadie. It is unfair if only one bike gets all the attention.
Re: Qld weather venting postsGone !
one bridge spanning the creek between Ashgrove and St John's Wood. Anybody know which recent deluge claimed this bridge ? Recent Favorite rides:

Re: Qld weather venting posts
I think I posted a pic of this a few weeks back. It was the first batch of floods we had this year, and the cause was a full sized power pole that had been rammed directly into the upstream steel I-beam, which pushed the the downstream one off the supports (including breaking it out of the concrete). The decking went with it. The upstream beam stayed until a crane took it away. The downstream one was bent link a banana and they were hefty beams. Enterprising kids were using it to balance on across the creek to get to school. ![]()
Re: Qld weather venting postsA foot bridge was washed away at the back of stafford city by the previous floods. Well when I say that the bridge was ok but the creek bank on one side was gone.
I'm pretty sure it took nearly 6 months for the them to fix that. Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()

Re: Qld weather venting postsSoaked again this morning on the commute in.
But never fear Brisbane commuters - I ordered some waterproof shoecovers online last night, so we will have 6 years of drought starting when they arrive. ![]()
Re: Qld weather venting posts
Yep, my über dry rain jacket should be arriving on the front of that drought I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.
Re: Qld weather venting posts+1. Did my bit to start a drought by buying a fluid trainer on the weekend.

Re: Qld weather venting postsNow we just need something done about the cyclonic winds......
If its not raining it's blowing a gale. Sent from my GT-P5110 using Tapatalk 2
Re: Qld weather venting posts
don't have a problem with the winds. they are just blowing the wrong way
Re: Qld weather venting posts
Has it arrived yet??? Its still wet outside.... I'm just getting out and riding regardless now, racing in the rain might be different though About to buy shoecovers as well, wet and soggy shoes are the pits... Lisa
Re: Qld weather venting postsProblem with the wet weather gear ive tried is that in this current humid weather, im as wet underneath from sweat, as i am from outside rain.
Shoe guards are great though..... if i have dry feet, all is good with the world. chop wood
Re: Qld weather venting postsI'm also considering buying some shoe covers haha. As much as I want the rain to go away I want it to stay because of the cold
