OldGuysRule wrote:Hello all, I am doing the ride this year. Did the Goondiwindi to Gold Coast back in 2005 which was a great ride. How many on here are doing the ride this year?
I am. It will be my first Full CQ ride, did the second half of it in 2010. I was driving through Beaudesert in September 2005 and did stop and talk to some of the Goondiwindi to GoldCoast riders because they had a lunch stop there. I think it was the second last day. The persons that i talked to were very enthuisiastic about that ride, although it was at the height of the drought and the landscapes were very dry.

Nice on-line booking system for the rest day events. Stanthorpe tourism is more organized than I expected - good to see. And the apple pie advertised on the northern winery tour has won me.

Hire car booked for the trip to Stanthorpe for the two of us. Cool... way less hassle than boxing bikes and it was cheaper I guess that means I'm officially going now.

Good idea. But can we do it after 3pm, I'm off to the winery tour ( the one that includes apple pie) What about 5pm at the CQ bar?

Great idea! Re : Rest day tour options - I am sure the northern tour goes to some memorable estates but few places would be more memorable than thisIt is 15 km south of town so i would favour the southern tour, although the exact itinerary is a mystery at this stage

Good catch! I can see a plan forming for an activity on the first afternoon in Stanthorpe. After all, what's an extra 30k on top of 100?

Howdy all, I'm going with a friend from work. I already head to Stanthorpe most winters for the cold Bramble Patch is great! So is Vincenzo's, good food and Italian Deli http://www.vincenzos.com.au/ or Suttons Farm http://suttonsfarm.com.au/ great juice & cider and good food! I won't be doing any of the organised tours as I've visited most of the local wineries and bushwalked the hell out of Girraween. I'll be heading to one of the above for a bit of R&R See you all in a few weeks!
