G'day

I know Poul Peterson was at Fusion Cycles in the Valley. If he is still there, he is a good option.

I would go with velo cycles in Wilston or Fusion in Teneriffe. I run campy and have good service from both. I get the feeling velo do more campy these days judging by the stock on the floor, I think fusion are doing more SRAM.

Are you sure you can't fit the majority of the grouppo yourself? Buying something they supply elsewhere for less and then asking them for the same level of service is being a tad cheeky mate.
You might not do yourself any favours :?

Theres another recent thread here about exactly this. I just can't find it. Bike shop owners (some) are getting miffed at losing dollars to online or OS purchases and then having customers expecting the same level of service. If I buy something online I try to do the work myself. All you can do is ask I guess.
And I'd try Fusion as well.

+1. He recently cabled and tuned my Cervelo while I sat and watched. Nice guy. Great job. Highly recommended.

Oh, and BTW Womble. I rocked into Fusion with the bike all built minus cables, chain and bar tape. I supplied everything except the cables, and not for a second was I made to feel like a second class citizen. Some stores might not like it but Fusion had no problem at all.

PS. He wraps a mean bar tape too.

If you're feeling adventurous I've got all the tools required except the chaintool and will help for beer ;)

There is always one in every crowd. I went to get a Cervelo cabled up with a Rival Groupset. Having no experience with SRAM I thought it prudent. The bar tape was a bonus. I'd have happily done that part. But I certainly wouldn't have done as good a job as Poul. I even learnt something.

BTW, before you start calling people names, perhaps you should check the forum rules against such things. You know. Like before you get banned.

That was unexpected. Is the forum seriously getting this PC? Sorry but I didn't bat an eyelid at the post when I read it.
Hmmm, on with the thread. (I'm worried as to what I might have posted today now :? )

It might not have been overly offensive, but I'm assuming it was more or less irrelevant to the thread. Didn't see it, but I'm assuming it was the usual petty thread derailing comment which seems to be so common around here...

Anyway, drop me a pm or something if you're keen laager, offer is there. Can't guarantee a flawless job, but I'm not a total incompetent.

buy a kmc 11 speed quick link and you can join the chain yourself without the expensive tool.

You could ask Zepinator to do it. He could weld the whole grouppo on so nothing would ever come loose

laager wrote:However, my concern is, perhaps, somewhat unjustified but possibly understandable. I'm not putting on a basic 11 speed Athena. I'm putting on 2011 Super Record with all the trimmings like titanium/carbon crankset. Things like BB shell facing tools, ceramic bearing oils, correct torques everywhere and attention to detail are critical to me considering the price I've paid so far. In addition, for that particular bike I would like to establish an enduring relationship with a good LBS and using it for the install(s) is a good start.

Hah, I do understand your concerns there then. I fitted a (used) chorus group a month or so ago - SR is a significantly bigger investment. Additionally, I don't have a BB facing tool or fancy oils for ceramic bearings - just torque wrenches and all the assorted bits required to do a bog-standard fit.

What's the frame this is going on btw?
