Ride To Conquer Cancer

Hi guys!

Last thursday I registered for teh Ride To Conquer Cancer. I've raised 50% of my goal so far which I think is amazing! Thank you to all who have donated is really means a lot. Any ideas on how to raise the rest?

I was wondering is there anyone else who is also taking part that lives close to me who would perhaps like to do a few practice rides or even just the normal sat morning river loop or everyday cycle to work (to South Brisbane leaving 7am), I live in Fig Tree Pocket. I was also looking for a team mate to ride with on the day...as we all know, it's much better to ride with a buddy! I'm 25yo and have about 1000km road experience to include the 2011 Mount Coot-tha Challenge and the 2011 Ipswich 100(km).

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Cheers,
Kevin

Hi

I am also doing the RTCC - I am almost over the $2500 threshold - but I live in Toowoomba so I can't help you with training. Please send me a private message and maybe we can meet up at the ride - will be nice to "know" a few people.

Here is my RTCC page

Do you know John Lindley in Toowomba by any chance? He's big into his cycling!

Im also doing the RTCC. Live at Runcorn on the southside Brissie. Do a few morning rides up Mt Gravatt and the weekend ride out to Cleveland or River Loop. Not the fastest cat getting around but I did the Ipswich 100km fairly well for my first go. I wonder how many riders will eventually be doing the RTCC...?

Does anybody know where the ride will be? The site just says that there is a start and a finish :S

Had a guide ring me to enquire how I was going. Questioned her on the route and she said it probably wont be released to the riders until around a month or so before the ride date

I am also doing the RTCC and have asked the same question about the ride route.

Historically August means westerly winds, so possibly the ride route will be determined by weather.

As a hint, Brisbane to Esk via the Brisbane Valley Hwy is about 109kms - thats about as far as we are "riding" in one day.
Brisbane to Somerset Dam via Fernvale and then on to Dundas, Crossdale and Brydon is 109kms.

Somerset Dam to Kilcoy, Kilcoy to Villenueve, woodford then down through Dayboro is again about 100kms.

The secrecy of the route is about safety, they don't want people practicing on their official route in case of an accident & bad publicity. Where have you guys been? I thought I was a lone ranger.

I thought I'd revive this thread. This year will be my third RTCC ride. Is anyone else doing it this year?

Raising the donations this year seems to be a lot harder. Are you experiencing the same problems?

Yeah raising money for my Brisbane-Sydney ride has been tough. Spamming facebook has paid off a little bit though.

The last two years, posting stuff on FB has netted me no donations at all. Last year I had to resort to email. I've experienced the same this year. Even the donation tins we have set up are hardly being filled.

Thanks. I'd love to place a tin at your shop. PM me your details.

With regards to your wearing your jersey on the ride, it sounds great. The last two years I have been committed to wearing a company's jersey and will just need to check whether I am committed this year as well. They currently have a number of tins out and do meat raffles for me.

Thank you, it really is appreciated.

Who do I ask for? I'll get a couple of tins and drop them in.

I'm using TapTalk so I don't know if the signatures are showing but my donation link is in my signature if you would prefer to donate online.
