was a booking essential? i'm just wondering about the chances of calling it an informal regular friday gig. if you need to book a table, then i guess not.

Brisbane meet up

A river loop sounds good. RE speeds... I reckon it'll sort itself out. I'm a slowpoke so other slowpokes can ride with me while the speedsters leave us in their dust. So long as we periodically regroup, we should be able to keep everyone together.

I'm a slowpoke too... the speedsters could go under the bridge at Chelmer to do the extra few k's through Graceville/Sherwood and then re-group with any slower riders along the river at Graceville before turning onto King Arthur Tce.

Next weekend then? Say Sunday?
Early arvo say 1pm?
Meeting at some where you can park a car, say Baroona Rd near Epic Cycles?
Go-between Bridge/Indooroopilly Bridge circuit or some other permutation of bridges?
We can stop for a coffee at West End - Gloria Jeans in the shopping centre in the old soft drink factory or maybe there's a spot at Baroona Rd shopping centre?

Put me down for the ride, but unfortunately I can’t stomach what Gloria Jeans call coffee.

in regard to riverloop, what's the general consensus on sundays? morning or early afternoon?
more cycle traffic/ less car traffic in the mornings?
people busier/like to sleep in in the mornings?
too cold at 7:30am?

An afternoon river loop shouldn't be too bad traffic wise.
And it'd give the obsessives the opportunity to ride with their regular groups in the morning.

West End has a plethora of places that make great coffee and you suggest Gloria Jeans

I'm keen for an afternoon riverloop.

LOL My thoughts precisely.

I'm good for a Sunday afternoon ride, departing Epic Cycles. And let's find something nicer than GJ for coffee

I'll be up for a River Loop and a brew - but if anyone dares call Gloria Jeans coffee again, I'll tip mine in their jersey pockets.

And why not make the meeting point somewhere central - say Ship Inn Southbank? There's parking near by, its central for those (like me) who are more likely to ride in (from Southside).....
What is it with cycling? 30+ kmh and lycra???!!!

I think at this point I'll be doing neebo-glorious-samford in the morning so might not be too keen on an afternoon ride.

If I were going I would prefer a more central meet point than epic but who's to say. :). Keep me posted on proposed coffee point and I might come out in the cage with the kids :)

I’m in. Just need to know when and where.

That is if old, fat, bald, grumpy and slow dudes are welcome. If it’s a nice day I might even take Pierre.
It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.

Ship inn's fine with me. Don't care if you prefer to avoid GJs. Does the Ship Inn do a coffee?

Its sounding like the short loop - a sort of 2 wheeled promenade of idle flaneurs.

Yes - but on a weekend afternoon they might be a long shot to get a bunch of coffees done when dealing with the afternoon lunch/beer crowd.

West End-Sthbank area has so many good coffee spots to choose from, and plenty other than Garage which is well known to the rolleurs.... :)

Do we have a definite date, time and meeting place?

Why not ride "between" a northside coffee-shop (eg Blackwood Rd Mitchelton) and a southside coffeeshop (eg Logan Road, Holland Park or Mt Gravatt).

Bu the southsiders can start at the latter and ride an away leg with the northsiders on their return leg
