I just spent 10 minutes looking at the website and couldn't see what time it starts. Anyone point me to the start time??

Cheers

Betterthanwalking, try this link:
What time do the rides start on Sunday 9 October 2011?

The Wilson HTM Brisbane to the Gold Coast Cycle Challenge 100km will begin at 5:15am with progressive starts until 6:15am. Faster riders will set out first and then each speed category thereafter in descending order. It is recommended you get to the start site 45min before your ride starts. The 60km ride will start at 8.00am until 8.15am.

From the last time i finished it (in 2008!) the course was exceptionally well signed with marshalls all over the place, so a course map is not necessary (would help with giving you a mental picture of where you are on the course though). There is a route on bikely from the 06 event.

I’m in – just look for a fat, bald, grumpy old dude and that’ll probably be me. I haven’t decided which bike I’ll take but the ’85 Peugeot needs an outing.
It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.

I'm not entering until last week of September, as the BOM still has above average rainfall in their spring outlook, and I won't ride if the course is wet or the event postponed (again). IMHO, they really need to bring the event forward into August Sept when average rainfall is lower.

Nice, i'll keep an eye out, i remember seeing a guy on the Brisbane-Coot-tha on a GORGEOUS gold Univega, really like seeing nice bikes on rides like this.

+1, plus the temp is usually a little lower which is nice.

I am putting together a team as part of my sponsorship with GIANT.

Everyone still has to pay their own way but PM me your details if you want in - for discount sake at least.

First 10 people I'll have to ask to transfer the cash to me as I have to pay for 10 people when I register the team. So let me know if you are willing to do that.

Everyone else can let me know they want in and I will send an invite.

I plan on registering a couple of days before the deadline but would like to form the team ASAP so let me know.

When is the deadline? I need to stretch it out as long as possible because i'm getting very few hours over winter and finances are tight.

So, which speed group are you lot enrolling in ?
I have my 20 year Uni re-union on in Bris the night before, so, while I did not think I would make this ride, I am planning on cutting my next contract short and getting back in time for that. I would then have to get up early enough to make the start line, and put lots of coffee in my bidon.
I'd be inclined to go for the 30+ group usually, but I know I'll be a bit under the weather and tired after the night before, so maybe 25-30 ??

Im only in the 20-25 group, as ive never done that distance before. i know on the flats i normally get up to about avg 30. but the hills are killing me at the moment.
so i thought the lower group will be good for me.

Sounds like you are selling yourself a bit short.
If you've done anything over 50km, the 100 won't be a problem for you. I have just graduated to the over 100km group recently, and it really was not much of a step up from 50-75, and my average speeds did not really drop either. So long as you have enough water to keep well hydrated, and have some jam sammy's in your pockets for bonk-time, you will be fine.
