Yeah not too hilly so good for a easy +100km under the belt. Website has good ride info with a Garmin download of the course. I think the roads out that way should be pretty quiet too.

I'm looking at doing this ride...I'm a bit concerned about traffic on the Tamborine Rd section before Logan Village and along Chambers Flat Rd...fairly narrow shoulders in sections.

Did anyone participate in this ride??

How was the traffic? Work commitments meant that I didn't sign up for it.

Was a great day out. Fair few people doing the 130km, probably 100 or so?

My ride wasnt really according to plan. My friend and I tacked onto the lead group until the first rest stop. I met another guy from the forums there too that recognised my bike. Then when my friend and I set off again, we hadnt gone more than 5kms before he flatted after hitting a pothole. I stayed back and helped him change it. Got going again, he flatted again 2 km later! By this time we were the last guys in the 130km group and the sagwagon had come to meet us. My friend wanted to call it quits and i didnt really want to ride the last 95kms by myself. So we both jumped in the 4x4 and put our bikes in the trailer. The sagwagon caught up to the next lot of last riders plodding along.
There was just two riders - a lady new to riding and a fellow who had taken a wrong turn and ended up doing an extra 30kms. I was keen to ride again so jumped out and teamed up with the guy to continue on. At least it was better than doing it alone. Ended up sharing pulls on the front and made it all the way to the finish only stopping once for food. My trip computer said 119kms so I only ended up sitting in the sagwagon for 11kms! Pretty good all things considered.
I ended up getting to the finish only 10mins after my mate in the sagwagon as they had to wait for some other riders to pull out and take everyone to the finish. Great timing.
Went home, had a steak for lunch and napped for a few hours

Pros of the ride:
- Nice longer distance than the usual 100km ride
- Friendly group of people and competent riders
- Rest stops well organised
- Free sausage sizzle after

Things not so great:
- some of the roads were pretty rough and with a high speed limit
- ride was held on a saturday so was abit busier than usual on the roads
- the sagwagon didnt have a pump or basic spares which is handy on a longer ride like this
- some of the signage wasnt that easy to spot but generally it was pretty good

Id be back next year but just hope they try to make it on a Sunday and choose some nice finished roads (some of the had no shoulder and heaps of potholes) with lower speed limits (<80km/hr) for safety. All in all, great work by the organisers.

Thanks for the report Rob, shame about the flats that your friend had.
I know some of those roads, especially the ones out towards Jimboomba and back, and was concerned about the volume and speed of the traffic as well as the conditions.

I'll keep an eye out for this one next year, depends on the route if I do it.
Mr MM was keen to do the four day tour but it had reached the max. numbers before he enquired....he'll be keen to get in earlier next year

As the ride is organised by a church group, it would be unlikely to be held on a Sunday.
