Rainbow Ride cycle challenge Nov 13th, 2011, Byron bay, Australia: http://tr.nelson.co.nz/rainbow_ride.htm judged, insulted, gone
Re: Rainbow Ride160 or 100 km like the Ipswich ride only through nicer country.
They've removed Mt Tomewin from the course. That doesn't sound good. $95 is a bit much. Its a long way and an early start. Has anyone here done this ride? I'm vacillating. judged, insulted, gone
Re: Rainbow RideIll second that I would like to hear from someone who has done it too.
Gitane Criterium. Puch mistral SE. Manhattan Flyer.
Re: Rainbow RideI did it last year and for a smaller event than the other rides it was really well run. Great ride through beautiful country and now that Mt Tomewin is not at the end it makes it an even more enjoyable ride. Sort of ride where if you belt along at 35+ you miss it and deserves to be done a little slower to enjoy the scenery. A pleasure to do and the climbs throughout are not difficult.
We came in pretty well dead last, well not quite and the activities and lunch was still available even after 7.5 hrs after we started. We just kept the SAG wagon company cheers Dave ![]()
Re: Rainbow RideHad not planned to, but that's my usual rides, so I'm up for it. Not sure if I'm working though, don't have a roster that afar ahead yet.
Bugger, working an afternoon. I'm up to d the same route another time though, without the fanfare. You have officially become your parents.
Re: Rainbow RideOne of my regular riding partners has plotted both rides on ridewithgps.com
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/712863 (160kms) http://ridewithgps.com/routes/714394 (100kms) There is a fair amount of climbing in the 160km ride - it certainly wont be easy ![]()
Re: Rainbow RideThanks for those links, i was having trouble deciding which distance to do but after looking at them i reckon i'll do the 100k, the 160 just looks like a bit much for me at this point in time.
When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments- Elizabeth West.
Re: Rainbow RideAwesome ride. Plenty of bumps and ended up being about 2000+mtrs of climbing. Beautiful country side and rode with about 640 friends
Found it lot tougher than Ipswich 100mile ride. cheers Dave ![]()
