Do you know what street the path runs off, I cant see it on Google maps. Would save me a train ride to Indro to ride the western freeway bike path (coming from Ipswich).
I could get off at Richlands (after one change) and ride from sumner's road to mt cootha and return.

yeah google maps isnt that great, hasnt been updated. try nearmap.com, way better. from Richlands its called Bakery road,it goes under the ippi motorway and then you get to kokoda street and the bikeway starts from there

Thanks, I forgot about nearmaps....
I can see where it gets to Kokoda st, but not after that..... Do you ride along side (or on the side of) the Centenary and get off at Jijaws st??

runs alongside the centenary up to sumners rd - i think you have to travel a few hundred metres along sumners rd to the set of lights at dandenong rd to cross now.
cross over sumners rd anyway, then continue along the bike path.
under the centenary bridge (watch out for trolls) and then over the centenary bridge, or have a brain fart like i did and enjoy all that seventeen mile rocks has to offer, which is bugger all.

Sweet thanks man!!!! It is a goer for sure.....

I think the safest way would be to Darra station up to sumners road accross bridge on footpath (righthand side) and bike path from there.
Saves changing trains too....

Sorry for jacking your thread Shaun too...

You can jump to the bikeway from pine road at the lions club which take you all the way to the bus depot in toowong but you will need to cross roads at mount ommaney, fig tree picket and moggil road
I do this loop to the city for mid week training and has some good rolling stretches ....
Very safe and not many riders use it for some reason and good quality bike path ..... Enjoy :D

Well I was going to hit this ride up on Saturday, but the trains are not running. pffft.....
I rang Translink to enquire about buses, however the advised that I could ride the bus with my bicycle, however it would go under the bus.
Hmmmm... I think i will wait until next weekend, new plan is to ride to Rosewood, I have an Uncle there that I can visit. It will be 43km in length, (round trip) so will be a nice ride.

Cheers

Syd.

Syd' you still could ride from Ipswich? There is a bikeway section that takes you to the back of carol park otherwise you can get on the main road to Springfield lake from Yamanto then to carol park also and straight onto the bikeway at Ellen grove ... It should give you a good 100k turn around to Ipswich and would be a nice enjoyable ride if you up to it

I live in Forest Lake and commute to town 3 days a week that way. If you want I'm happy to show you the way one day. From the Richlands train station its about a 23km ride.
