Rumour has it that the Cootha ride will have 2 courses this year... One where the climb will be early on and the other where it is towards the middle.

GC100 on again this year on 9/9/12.
There is a few undulations out the back of the Gc to make this a challenging ride.
Did it last year, was a good ride.

Well I've entered and haven't heard any info. I'd definitely prefer it at the start/early on living less than 15km from coot-tha.

Why? wouldn't that make for more disruption and work for volunteers etc manning the route(s)?

I've registered already and haven't heard anything at all other than a confirmation email reply, so i'm quite curious as to what is going on, or not going on as the case may be.

The new course for 2012 BDO Brisbane Coot-tha Challenge will include the Gateway Bridge bike path, part of Kingsford Smith Drive and the ICB. The course will take in Mt Coot-tha and the city highlights and finish at Musgrave Park, South Brisbane.

For safety reasons the route map will not be provided at this point in time. A detailed rider information sheet will be released online in the coming weeks.
Is that the same was as saying it's not approved yet?

Depends on your definition of 'best'. I really enjoyed the Ipswich 100 ride. I am also looking forward to the Rainbow Ride and Flight Centre Epic (MTB).

Honestly, they are all good. Pick one and ride! :D

Ipswich 100's are good...I'm looking into the Tweed Fondo in May as well......keen to get a imperial century ride down this year but not ready for the Ipswich version

Southbank to Southport is good too....not difficult at all but it's a nice quick ride to the coast via the busway

How about this one, https://challenge.endeavour.com.au/?

It's part of the Tour of Toowoomba http://www.touroftoowoomba.com.au/ weekend in June 14 to 17th.

I just rode 60k's out there this weekend past and the 120k version would be a challenge!

I have put this on my list to do with the Missus (she doesn't ride, just need to get the permission slip signed off... in triplicate of course!)

My first road bike was purchased when I used to live in Toowoomba. It's not known for it's flatness

Should be an excellent ride however wish they would advise what the 100KM course will be (or did they do this last year and someone knows what the course was then?)

Entry fee gives you the following:

The entry fee on the three distances includes:

Entry to fully supported event
Event jersey <---- ??
Event bib <---- ??
Event wristband
Gel packs
Rider Information Guide
Finishers' prize: 0.5 Watt single LED bike light, 3 functions – flash, steady & off, Quick release bracket, & Batteries included.
Certificate of Completion

I do wonder if they mean "bib" as in cycling bib or that just means event number? And jersey is really a T-Shirt? Can't see them doing $95 for a full kit and entry?

yeah, I thought that same thing...sound a bit too good to be true!
Event bib is probably for the bike and I agree the 'jersery' is probably a Tee shirt.

I'd love to see a profile of this ride too....my 60k ride last weekend was full of hills!

Hi,
The price of the event jersey is only $45 so maybe it is included in the event price.

They don't tell you much about the jersey though, just the colour.

Cheers

I've done the Endeavour Challenge the past 2 years, and thoroughly recommend it. The course maps aren't up yet, but it's been a different course each time I've done it so I'm guessing it may change this year as well. Last year we rode out to Oakey, whearas the previous year the course went further north and not as far west as that. Both were great courses though. A nice touch was seeing the pros riding their morning road stage fly past, but it looks as though that won't happen this year. But going up just to see the pros ride the criterium in the arvo would be worth the effort — bloody hell they're fast. As for what's included in the entry, from memory when I entered this year I had to select a jersey size but not knicks size, so I think the bib is for the bike. The last 2 years a jersey was an option if you paid for a higher-priced premium entry. That jersey the past 2 years was a nice merino wool number, and well worth the $45 they charge as a standalone, so I'm hoping it'll be the same again, but it's possible it'll be something cheaper. Looks like a later start this year — last year was slightly fresh. Note to self — dress for the conditions this year. If you don't have arm and leg warmers and full finger gloves, start shopping now.

But again, I really do thoroughly recommend this ride. I think it's close to the best on the calendar.

So, is anyone taking part in the Endeavour Challenge? I'm certainly looking forward to it — just over 3 weeks away now. The maps are up, and this year the long version in 125 km, heading toward Pittsworth then across to Clifton. Not sure how hilly it'll be, but it should be quite scenic. And if anyone is still wondering, the jersey is merino wool, and the bib is for the bike.

Help needed

There’s a ride coming up and there’s a walk / run option available. I told my wife and she’s keen to do it but I’ve since lost the link.

Help or I’ll be sleeping on the couch :o

Still thinking about it actually, but after this mornings ride.... need the arm and leg warmers for Toowoomba!

They have done the maps on Bikely which don't load half the time. Have redone the course in Garmin Connect which seems fairly fast using Bing Maps.

http://connect.garmin.com/course/1304038

By default as it is an American program it shows up in Miles, however it works out to be 129kms
