Cycling Annerley to New Farm

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the board and to cycling in the city so i was hoping for a little route advice. I'm pretty much only used to the back streets of my neighbourhood however my office is moving so i thought it might be a good time to start cycling to work.

I'm looking at going from the Yeronga Tafe to Merthyr Street in New Farm. I've looked at routes and maps but everything now seems to suggest the now non-existant riverwalk. Also, I'd prefer to stay off road as much as possible.

Is there a route that is largely off road (well, the major ones anyway) that would take me from the Tafe, across the Story Bridge and down to Merthyr?

I'd suggest this route (street names not all provided, but you should be able to get the idea)...

Yeronga Tafe School Road
Ashby Street (towards the Corso along the river)
Bikeway up and under the Green Bridge, brings you to
Annerley Road (well traversed bikelanes either side)
Left at bottom passing the Mater Hospital
Right at lights onto Lower River Terrace (behind Griffith Uni Campus)
Onto Riverside bikeway (Kangaroo Point Cliffs)
Follow right around to Story Bridge
Left/Right "through" Story Bridge Hotel keep pub on right.
Up onto Bridge, cross on Moreton Bay side (NOT CITY SIDE)
Right off bridge, and down along Moray Street towards Merthyr Road....

I ride from New Farm to stones corner everyday.
My suggestion is to use the
South East Bikeway,
Kangaroo Point bikepath at the bottom of the cliffs
Over the Storey Bridge on the shared Path
then down Lower Bowen Terrace.
Bowen terrace is generally pretty quite when decending but when climbing back on the way home I would go via Moray St.
How you get to the South East Bikeway I am not sure as I do not know the quite streets

Over the Storey Bridge on the shared Path
then down Lower Bowen Terrace.
Bowen terrace is generally pretty quite when decending but when climbing back on the way home I would go via Moray St.

Brisbane Corso, up Princess Street and turn left on to Fairfield Road which turns in to Cornwall Street across Annerley Road and follow Cornwall Street down to Carl Street, left on to Carl Street all the way to the end where Carl Street meets O'Keefe Street, and across the set of lights is the entrance to South East Bike way Buranda entrance/exit.

Use google maps and you'll work things out.

From a commute point of view, the hill from the bottom of the Kangaroo Point cliffs under the Freeway/Cptn Cook to the Stanley st overbridge is the worst bit.
