Fellow Rats,
A work colleague is going to join us for the run down to Broadbeach. Please go easy on him as he doesn't understand 'Steel' so he will be on Scott Addict.
Group for the coast:

Digger #2
Waz
The Elf (my mate)

rumour has it there could be two renegades sans race numbers, gatecrashing the ride, possibly both on retro bikes.
don't know if there's any truth in the rumour, but it sounds cool

That's the spirit, nothing like kicking the establishment in the testicles.
Oh & you're not gate crashing, you just may be riding down to the Gold Coast & happen to meet us somewhere (like the start) or you were out for a ride & you ran into us.
Or you're just taking advantage of the fact that I donate more than enough money to these charities every year & you're getting some value for my dollar (considering I always lose the receipt at tax time & never claim it).
Or you're just upholding the principles of retro riders & kicking the establishment in the testicles (yep that's always the best reason to do anything)

For the life of me I don't understand why they don't bring the event forward 4 weeks. October av. monthly rainfall is 146% higher than September.

Last year it bucketed the day before and 3 years ago they cancelled and re-scheduled the event (That's my experience with this ride due to my "newbiness" as a cyclist ..... not sure about the previous years but October is well know for it's wet periods yes .... Time will tellPawPaw wrote:Hmmm...well that's it. I am canning the ride. Oct 7 long range rainfall forecast just went up to 50-75%.

Damnit. Well, as mentioned above, here's hoping if it does rain it occurs after 2pm like most storms at the moment.PawPaw wrote:Hmmm...well that's it. I am canning the ride. Oct 7 long range rainfall forecast just went up to 50-75%.

I agree. However, a quick BOM search reveals total rainfall of 13.2mm on October 7 over the decade 2002-2011, with only 2 years (2003 and 2011) recording rainfall at all - 7.8mm and 5.4mm, respectively.vaeske wrote:come on now chaps, lets be men here.

Pack suncream, not a poncho. Besides, it never rains on my birthday parade...

Lol, rain would make this event loads of fun by removing the masses who think carbon dissolves!!PawPaw wrote:Hmmm...well that's it. I am canning the ride. Oct 7 long range rainfall forecast just went up to 50-75%.
