Alan Hacker - Moron?

My borther showed me this story yesterday and I thought you may like to see it.

http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/201 ... -news.html

Firstly there is nothing in the QLD road rules that say that cyclists can't ride on footpaths, and the road rules state that if a road has more than two lanes, cyclists can use a whole lane. So he is wrong

The funny thing is he can't decide what he wants. He complains about cyclists riding on the road, but doen't want them on the footpaths either. What, are we meant to ride in peoples backyards?

I haven't read the article.. But I suspect he wants what so many other people want cyclist to to - just go away and stop calling into question their "car is king" mentality.

last I checked a square has equal sides, maybe he means a rectangle??? Sort of shows how much thought goes into a journalistic marvel like this article.
I didn't even see that, good find. Just proves how much of a moron this Hacker idiot is.

I'm gettin' a feeling that this bloke might be a Gooier Male staffer doing some creative astroturfing from his holiday home. Are the two jeernalistic outlets linked?

And then he is quoted as saying
I used to ride and did that and you can see it from about five or six metres behind.
This guy seems quite special.

Common sense would dictate that ... cyclists should be courteous to other road users and allow the free-flow of traffic.

"So, riding in large groups and taking up a lane of traffic is not being courteous."
Insp Rohweder
That comment is typical of what many police say ignoring the law
Keeping left and overtaking (s129, s131, s141, s151)

You must:

•ride as near as is safely possible to the far left side of the road — on a multi-lane road or a road with two or more lines of traffic travelling in the same direction as you, you can occupy a lane and travel in the right hand lane when necessary (for example, to make a right turn)
•ride to the left of any oncoming vehicle
•not overtake another vehicle on the left if that vehicle is turning left and giving a left change of direction signal
•not ride more than two abreast unless overtaking
•ride within 1.5 m of the other rider if riding two abreast.

I wonder if the idiot in the 4WD that deliberately swerved at Dizz on Oxley Drive on the Coombabah/Runaway Bay stretch on our Wednesday ride down to the Coast read that article. And good on the guy in a second 4WD behind the idiot for pulling over and giving us the rego number the idiot. The helpful motorist also provided his name and said the police would recognise it, so our suspicion is that he was possibly an off duty cop.

Sorry, but I am not seeing where your quotes from the road rules and the cop's comments disprove each other.
The road rules you have quoted make absolutely no reference to riding in large groups.
And while it does not say you cannot ride in large groups that does not say it is discourteous.
And befor eyou argue back, I would also say it is discourteous for a large group of drivers or motorcyclists to drive/ride slowly in a large ORGANISED bunch (emphasis on the organised).

I think that's because he's so slow.

I wonder if he ever Googles his name (though he's now dropped from the 7th result to the 9th... but is #1 if Pages From Australia is selected).
