Hi BNA,
UQ is opening some new end of trip facilities for cyclists, with a free breakfast, on May the 25th.
More Details here:
https://survey.its.uq.edu.au/checkbox/S ... 74cea007c1
The pricing for using the facilities seems very reasonable, considering what some people are paying for car parks on campus.
I am interested in seeing what the facilities are like, especially the workshop.
I am not associated with the project, just considering attending and thought I would share.
Regards,
Slarv

Maybe I'm blind but I couldn't see any pricing listed there.
How much does it cost?

The breakfast is probably free but they want you to register if attending.Undertow wrote:Maybe I'm blind but I couldn't see any pricing listed there.

The bike box facilities will be one dollar per week, but there other "secure" bicycle storage rooms which are free of charge to uni staff or student.

The information does seem a bit ambigious, but this is the way I understood it:-elantra wrote:The breakfast is probably free but they want you to register if attending.Undertow wrote:Maybe I'm blind but I couldn't see any pricing listed there.

Opening Breakfast is free (rsvp for catering).
Usage of the bike box (bike racks, showers, etc) is free.
Access is given to anyone with a valid student or staff card, on application, for free.
Bag locker rental is $1 per week.
I could be wrong so it's worth looking into yourself.

So use of the Bike Box is $52 per year which is very reasonable. Although then I checked how much to park a motorcycle on campus. $117.00 for the year. This seems really cheap for a motorcycle. Maybe the uni should increase the charge for motorcycle parking and further reduce the bike box parking. The breakfast is probably free but they want you to register if attending.

I'm very impressed that the university has embraced the Bike Box concept and spend quite a deal of money on it. I guess my only minor gripe is that the location of it is not really close to anything. This negates one of the big advantages of bicycling. Being able to park really close to your destination. The Bike Box is at the same location as the multi=storey car parks.

The End.
