Central Queensland Cycling

Postby suppadave » Mon Dec 03, 2012 5:52 pm

Hey every one! First post here and just after some advice,

I am moving from NSW to Queensland. In particular Central Queensland, either Moranbah or Dysart.

What is the cycling culture like around here, i'd presume it would be quite dead? My major concern is the roads to cycle on. It seems all I would have is single lane highways... what are peoples experiences on these?

Is their any awesome tracks I should sus out while I live in that region? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Been ages since you made this post...

I lived briefly in Moranbah a few years back and did a little riding. Very hard to get loops or circuits (lots of out and back rides). Some of the roads have a decent shoulder while some are terrible. There was a tiny handful of triathletes around but no training groups as such.

Good news is that Mackay is just down the road with a good cycling club and some really great training rides.
