G'day WMC1
[edit:] lukeyboy posted while I was drafting mine!! [:edit]
I am going to sign on for this ride too. It should be a really nice ride through some nice rural and coast areas. Plenty of hills in the first half of the ride.
Regarding hills etc, obviously what I think is a hill you might think is a flat....or a mountain, it is all a bit subjective, but this is how I would describe it in summary (NOTE: I haven't ridden the Jinker track part for a VERY long time
but most of the rest I am reasonably familiar with on the bike):
Overall, this is
not a ride for people who don't like hills but there are no mountains to climb. They have concentrated the climbing mainly in the first half of the ride (up to the 90k mark) and then the rest is relatively flat with a few nice hills thrown in. However, the run along the coast line in the 120 - 150 stage, though reasonably flat can be a complete bugga if there is a strong headwind (not uncommon IMO).
In a bit more detail, the first 10 k is flattish with a few hills to warm the legs up. Then the hills increase from there. Nothing spectacular at first but descent hills. I remember a couple of good hard hills in the Bunya Rd area, they'd be the ones on the profile graph at about the 20 k mark.
Then it is OK with some good long hills out to Dayboro (about the 47k mark) and some more long and high-ish hills to grind up after Dayboro out to the 60 k mark approximately, and some nice down hills to go with them (though not as spectacular as the profile graph makes them look). After that there are still some good hills but nothing as big as has been done to this point and as I said the second half of the ride is pretty flat.
Sorry if that is all a bit vague, no doubt someone will be able to give more detail with road gradients etc...
Hope to meet you out there
.
Who else is thinking of doing this ride????
