Should soften the legs up nicely for Sunday :) .

SEQ related question - I did Obi Obi rd today. Is Strava full of crap re the gradient up there? The Strava-corrected max gradient apppears as more than 40%! It was a tough climb but it didn't feel nearly as nasty as Haven Rd at Brookfield, so I'm somewhat suspicious.

Maybe not the 42% claimed but it's certainly insanely steep, the highest gear i've ever cleared it with was 39-32.

Cheers Lauchy, drove it today and was impressed again haha. Certainly found I wanted more gears than I had yesterday. Will have to try making a proper ride of it next time rather than just a quick 30km like yesterday. Something to think about for next time I'm up this way :)

Did you happen to go down it? I haven't seen the downhill side for a while but last time it was atrocious, getting towards impassable for 2wd.

Yes I did go down it on bike and in car. Surface is much better now, car is fine. On the bike 23mm GP4000S are...well it was alright, but I was going VERY slowly.

So who has a mtb/cx and would want to tackle the BVRT sometime later in the year?

Nice work mate I reckon Obi Obi is tougher than Haven, even hurt when I walked it last time.

Thanks Damo, certainly was wishing I had something lower than 34/25 but it is interesting about the comparison with Haven - second time I did that I felt awful, whereas this time it hurt a lot but I wasn't thinking about coughing up blood. Perhaps I was just having a better day, I dunno.

Time to buy a bigger cassette for this stuff though, I think.

That's why they invented credit cards and cabs.

I liken it to the 'walk of shame', when you see some slapper walking home in the morning on your early ride, shoes in hand, and still in clubbin' gear!!

No cab, just gaffa taped shoe to pedal then finished the last 50kms home.

Nice work.

I actually likened the 'walk of shame' to the pic that JC put up. Kinda reminds me of the early morning specials you see on both coasts! You know, dragging the handbag and flicking bits of 'carrot' from their hair, wishing they'd get swallowed up by a big hole in the ground. :D

So who would be keen for a little gentlemans ride later in the year? :P

Looks good, but two concerns -

1) Haven't done back of Glorious descent yet. It worries me.
2) There'd better be plenty of pie stops! :D

I'm out for a few weeks now, leaving 2am Saturday for the UK, back two weeks later.

The back is simple to descend. If its really an issue i can descend slower and give out warnings into the dangerous corners ie the double hairpin. It only becomes dangerous if you make it dangerous.

Possible rest/food stops will be top of Nebo (water), Glorious (food/water), Somerset Dam (not 100% but I think there might be the old country town servo/bakery there - near the camping grounds), Kilcoy (major rest stop/food/water), Woodford (food/water), Mt Mee (lookout), Pitstop Cafe on Mt Mee (food/water/lookout), Dayboro (food/water), Samford (food/water), The Gap Servo (Slurpies) :P

Simple eh? I was feeling decidedly cautious going down the steep side of Tamborine!

Should've added I might need a few weeks to get my legs back after holiday. When were you thinking of?

Glorious is a lot wider and more open than Mt Tamborine. One of the reasons why I can carry so much speed going down :P

No idea. Just throwing the idea out there to see if it can get some bites :P
