I just realised my much more serious predicament (riding wise that is, not having a teenage daughter), i have no idea how to get from Ipswich to Enoggera. I've been on the bike path alongside the Western Freeway a couple of times, does that help at all?

sorry about the link but there's a bike path along the ipswich motorway, you then join the centenary mwy bike way then the safest way would be to cut through the back of bardon and ashgrove

Bike paths are for commuters!! :wink: Either go Mt Crosby Rd/Moggill Rd/Rafting Gd/Gap Creek Rd to The Gap OR,

man up and take the Pine Mtn Rd/Fernvale/Back of Glorious option. Both of them are at least, much more scenic, and/or much more fun. :D

I like JasonC's route, maybe with some slight variations around the back of Bardon/Ashgrove.

steve - i just punched in ipswich to enoggera. I wouldn't specifically take that route - 3 gears and you'd have to go up the botannical garden climb of coot-tha?
actually, with 3 gears, I'd go via the city, take roma st parklands then kedron brook bikeway
it's scenic enough

Looking at that i could probably just go onto Boundary Rd at the cemetery, i've ridden that once (the day after my bucks :lol: ) and didn't have any trouble then or the occasion i rode the other direction in peak hour. I would have to go onto a side street for the climb up to Latrobe Terrace, i reckon i'd be walking that.

seriously LDR, if you're worried about the hills, do my route. be much less traffic (off road bike paths for a lot more of it)

He shouldn't be worried about the hills, compared to the hills that LDR knows on the Sunny Coast these Bardon hills are nothing.
Bigger problem would be taking the wrong turn and getting lost.
We could meet him along the way and act as his guides. :D

Well i'm riding from Coolum to Warwick tomorrow, staying with my aunty that night then racing the steam train to Clifton Saturday morning. At some point after that i make my way over to my brother's place in Enoggera for the night, then back up to the coast sunday morning. About 700kms all up :) . That's why i'm trying to avoid hills :D .

Good luck and ride safe mate. Don't do any stupid efforts on the hills like the last long ride we did. I won't be there to drag your ass home afterwards :lol:
Looking forward to the Strava update.

Right, Plan B it is then! Dusting off the Tom Wallace and taking the car instead. Who would have thought problems could occur with 27yr old parts on a 50yr old bike?

Obviously, not you! :lol:

Just think of how fresh you will be for the chase, that's of course, if the wind doesn't hammer you. :wink:

Thanks, sad but interesting.
BTW, you should get yourself a racing licence and have a go at the race that goes up that road and finishes in Warwick. (Cunningham Classic)
You would enjoy it and probably give your mates at Data 3 and UpperLimb a run for it.

Club crit champs is on the 24th :) Just something quick I threw together. Mods and other routes welcomed.

I threw in Mayfield Road for some laughs. It's a beast of a climb :P https://www.strava.com/routes/2248056" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Another route could be Cedar Creek and back through Eatons Crossing or Winn Road/Clear Mountain out to Bracken Ridge/Deagon and back via the Bikeway or Sandgate Road??

Via Eatons Crossing - https://www.strava.com/routes/2248082" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Via Winn Road/Clear Mountain - https://www.strava.com/routes/2248081" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
