Recently put a 32t on 6800 Di2 for a Japan Alps trip, there was much laughter directed at me initially, but guess who was laughing in the end.
i've got a compact crank in a box at home.
hoping 50/34 with an 11-28 cassette will be enough. otherwise i'll have to go and raid luke's parts bin

Hahaha! Yes! Everyone laughs at you for having a 32t on a roadie but as soon as you come to anything steep you just blow past everyone without even a sweat. I just wish mine didn't explode in the rear wheel haha. Time to start saving again. Mid compact with a 32t is the ultimate climbing bike.

I'm loving my mid compact (was able to get up the baroon dam climb) but having access to an extra bail out gear would be very handy, especially after 200kms...

You dont want to low a bail out though. The first time I did the Fitz I had a 30x32 low thinking I would just toddle up all the major climbs and save my energy. It worked but the extra low gear made me to slow and I ran out of time

I do the same in breakaways and solo attacks. As soon as the breakaway/attack is on the set lap speed comes straight on. Then its just nailing power and lap targets :P If you ever see one of my breakaways you'll see how consistent the lap times/power/cadence is :)

Oooooh have always wanted to do a ride like this.

Keen as mustard, but unsure as to my availability. Will check & advise.

Do you know off-hand what th rough distance is? And what sort of pace you're anticipating? :-)

Roughly 220
Pace is Gentlemens pace. Together on the flats, climb at your own pace
Maybe 30 on the flats (it's a long day)

Hahaha! Ooops, I was a victim of your thread resuscitation. I thought it was odd you hadn't mentioned doing it again...
