At first I thought the route went up Mt Glorious Front...couldn't work out why JC was so enthusiastic. Then I realised it was the Goat Track.jasonc wrote:yes, 23rd of may

EDIT: Then I realised that was only the first route!

Dave my workmate who joined us on the Tambo adventure and the "Geoff Rymer Memorial 5 peaks" ride will be joining us. So, that's 5 with Elantra.
I'm still voting for routes 2 or 3. Anyone got any preferences for/against?

You make it sound like my fault?jasonc wrote:TheWall - gentlemens pace - together on the flats, and your own pace on the ascents. The quickest one we did last year was when we had Dimma along and average 26-27km/h. The rest have been in the 24km/h average range

Good thing I wasn't on the front instead of being 2nd/3rd last wheel dragging people back onDimma wrote:You make it sound like my fault?jasonc wrote:TheWall - gentlemens pace - together on the flats, and your own pace on the ascents. You were 2nd last, dragging me back. Otherwise you would have been on the front.Lukeyboy wrote:Good thing I wasn't on the front instead of being 2nd/3rd last wheel dragging people back on

remember this is the 23rd of May so it's not next weekend
If there are people from the northside, we'll organise a meeting place on the route for them too.

01-18km: Start and group ride to climb 01.
18-20km: Climb 01. Starts at the bottom of the road up and over the mountain to Samford. 1.5-2km in length. Go at your own pace. Smash it, stay with the group or take your time.
20-29km: Regroup and group ride to climb 02. Regroup at the top of climb 01 and proceed as a group to climb 02 via Samford Valley/Yugar/Closeburn.
29-39km: Climb 02. The climb doesn't start at 29km but the strava segment does. It's a bit flat/rolling hills for a couple km before it slowly starts to climb up to Cedar Creek where we will regroup. There are a couple 10% pinches but the majority of it is just a nice slow gradual climb. Mt Glorious is on the left so enjoy the view and say its a good thing were not climbing that. If you don't care about the view then smash it until the end of the road.
39-56km: Regroup and group ride to climb 03 along Eatons Crossing Road.
56-57km: Climb 03. It's a mini climb out of a gully. Similar to climb 01. I suspect most will stay as a group but if you wish to take a few kph off your speed or add a few kph by all means take it at the pace you want.
57-finish: Regroup at the turn off for Clear Mountain. Group ride from there until we are back in the city etc. There will be a brunch stop for milkshakes/coffee/bakery/food depending on what people feel like doing. If keen we can detour to Sandgate or Nundah. Otherwise we can stop somewhere at the Grange on Kedron Brook road as we would be quite spoilt for choice there.

26-27 my foot. 200km@28.5kmh so I don't know what speed the official part of the ride was, but I can assure you I didn't speed up after Dimma left!jasonc wrote:TheWall - gentlemens pace - together on the flats, and your own pace on the ascents. Speed 26.8km/h
it was 200kms with 2500m of climbing.
and it was a good ride
edit: and when Dimma was busting to get home, we averaged just over 30km/h
