Jinker Track

Jinker Track

Postby spirro » Sun Sep 01, 2013 5:20 pm

Hi All

I'm not familiar with the Jinker Track. Can anyone tell me is it suitable for road bikes (i.e are there concrete bike paths/lanes) or is it only suitable for mountain bikes? I'm wanting to go for a ride around there but I have a road bike.

Having difficulty trying to get answers through other sites.

Thanks in advance

I've never been to that side of town. But all I did was google Jinker Track and have a look at the Satellite image and it looks paved the whole way.

You can zoom in and see that it's paved the whole way.

Hope this helps.

Depends on where your going :P The shared pathway beside the road was concreted/asphalt through the parking areas not that long ago but if you want to venture off onto the walking trails you'll need a mtb.

I was just going to stick to the main road, starting from Old Northern Road along the Jinker Track and then back through Collins Rd. I'll probably stick to the shared pathway as looking at Google Maps street view, there is not much bike lane on the Jinker Track from what I can see.

I just had a look at it from Street View as well, does much traffic travel along the road? There's next to no traffic in Street View. I can't imagine the shared path being used by many walkers, but still, if the road is lightly used, I'd ride on the road.

I did the Jinker Track this morning. Nice ride around there. I ended up staying on the road. As mentioned it's not that busy. I started from the Jinker Track side. Next time I'll go the other way starting from Collins Rd.

No magpies on Collins Rd which was good :-)
