Did it last year and had a blast, they are all seriously tough hills but the very last one was unimaginably hard, just barely cleared it with 39-28 and the legs were on fire that day.

Oh great now we're in trouble :) .

Strava segment http://www.strava.com/segments/2729008" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cop a look at those average speeds and remember most of the climbs get down into single digit speeds, gives an idea how hard you can hit the downhills :) .

Done and dusted, what a morning! Some of the hills are pretty reasonable, but then there are some sheer cliffs, and when you throw them all together at race pace it's incredibly hard. It's so cruel that the last of the 9 hills is also the steepest!

At the pointy end the local young gun Ryan Cavanagh set a new course record of 2:15 :shock: , while I gave it absolutely everything I had for a 2:41.

Pic from the finish line, I look a lot better than I felt :lol: .

I forgot to mention the amazing atmosphere too, there were a lot of riders (myself included of course) who were intent on going as fast as possible but it still had a great laid back, fun feel, helped along by the numerous spectators, the "shut up legs" signs on the side of the road and chalked slogans on it, and best of all, 2 young lads of about 8-10 yrs age handing out cups of water halfway up the last hill :D .

Best of all is the fact it raises money for the Cerebral Palsy League, $15,000 was the last figure I heard but it could go north of that :) .

Anyone up for this on Dec 20...? (Mods - is it possible to delete the date reference off this thread?)

http://www.buderim9.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Free Jersey if entering by Nov 30 and a great cause to boot. I entered before reading some the commentary-especially from Idrcycles. Think I will (95kg) struggle but will give it a go!

Madly riding up and down some hills around Coolum to prepare [emoji33][emoji1]

Might do a preview ride or two to Buderim over the next couple of weeks or is ignorance blissful?

The climb up to Low's Lookout, either from the beach or from the Hyatt side, is a good warm up for the Buderim climbs.

I won't be able to do the ride this year sadly, virtually no riding in the last 6 months and no way of changing that before mid next year :( .

Did a "Buderim 5" yesterday morning. Wowsers. I think I have lived a sheltered cycling life so far. Time to harden up ha ha. [emoji558][emoji558][emoji558][emoji559][emoji567]

Still feeling the effects today. Did not do Ballinger road which reportedly is the hardest. Annoyed at myself as I had the Garmin on pause for the front hill up from Mooloolaba. Strava says Buderim 4. Sigh.

Just keep at it til you get to 12 https://www.strava.com/activities/101885784/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; :D . I reckon Glenmount Rd is a lot harder than Ballinger, not least because it's the last one, so there's not much left in the legs and it's usually starting to get quite warm. The final pinch averages 14% and tops out WAY north of that. 39-28 granny if you're feeling really strong!
