Toowoomba Bicycle Users Group spokesman Hugh Wilson has taken time to survey the new-look roadway since its opening to traffic a fortnight ago.

His prognosis was not good.

"This section of road continues the Toowoomba Regional Council's anti-cycling view with traffic lanes designed to exclude bike riders," he said.

"The council seems determined to ignore cyclers, pedestrians and increasing numbers of people on mobility scooters in their continued favouring of motor vehicles as they turn Toowoomba city centre into a race-track with its 60 kmh speed zones.

Especially considering that they have the Tour up there and the amount of money it brings into the area for a week.

Looks like we should send a delegation to T'ba and do a few lappy's of the new ring road on our road bikes and report back.
