Nope she's now officially closed off while construction crews repair the road and remove overhanging boulders. It's still open in parts for the few locals that live on it but the majority is closed. THey have a site office set up and all.
I've got to say i'm amazed that it is happening, I thought for sure it had been abandoned for good.
When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments- Elizabeth West.
I'm not sure about paving/asphalt the whole thing. Something I read somewhere said it was a like-for-like repair of the road. So dirt track (with better drainage and rock protection, I suppose).
I might be wrong tho.
So... if the Road Closed sign is 'small', it's alright for people that think they're special to disregard it?
Just wait until it is OPEN.
Man up and do Pei Rd.
I couldn't give two hoots about what people do. If they want to do it then fine go ahead. The no bicycles signs around Brisbane seem to be doing their job. Or the small road closed sign on the traffic island at Fitzgibbon yet the big gates preventing people from driving through remain open. I had a little snoop around there and the world didn't end. Even saw the local residents driving through to get to their house and kids riding along the bikelane through there.
Edit: IIRC the signs are no vehicles past this point. Not road closed signs.
We're not talking about some sign in some hick suburb, we're talking about a closed road that's still being worked on. Its an attitude like that, that 'fuels' the massive amount of people in this country that already hate cyclists. If you think it's fine to ignore the odd traffic sign (ie, only adhere to the one's that suit you), don't post your hazy fly6 footage on here of cars that 'might' come a little close to you and expect everyone to jump up and down for them to be hung, drawn and quartered!!
It works both ways dude. Think about it.
No were talking about some road in the middle of nowhere that is complete bar some missing guard rails and roadside signage preventing it being open to traffic. The reason I seriously couldn't give a hoot is because its not my personal responsibility. Just the same as if a motorbike, truck, car or 19 cyclists chooses to run a stop sign. That's their $330 problem. If you get finned for speeding down Mt Glorious or Camp Mountain then whose problem is that? If anything anytime you go over the speed limit be it in a car or bike your just adding fuel to the fire of the respective party. Hit a cyclist while driving a car then expect the penalty. Get run over by a car after running through a stop sign then you have yourself to blame. Just like that bloke in the States that got killed running a red light trying to set a strava time.
FYI, the only fly6 footage I have uploaded was for people to view a sample quality. I have better things to do in my life than upload every small 'close pass', tosspot that cuts me off or car running a red light like that weirdo with 20 gopros in the UK does.
So I take it from that quote, we won't have to hear about any of your superhuman descending skills .. or, your 60+kmh lead out skills on the Bicentennial bikeway anymore!
Coz that would be, well, 'adding fuel to the fire', wouldn't it?
Most of my superhuman descending skills are as described by others. I just know how to corner correctly and only use the brakes when needed as you yourself know as well 10kph over the toll bridge otherwise there are no posted speed boards
PS. I'm always throwing fuel in fires. Also, its 70+ not 60+
Okay chaps, you can now 'officially', go for it.
