Great Brisbane Bike Ride - Volunteer Opportunities

Postby Bicycle Qld » Tue Mar 17, 2015 1:19 pm

The Great Brisbane Bike Ride (including the Coot-tha Challenge) is the final event of Bike Week, an annual week-long celebration of cycling running from April 25 to May 3, 2015.

The Great Brisbane Bike Ride is organised by Bicycle Queensland, a non-profit organisation who pedal the message of getting more people cycling more often. To do this we meet regularly with politicians and planners to persuade them to improve cycling facilities in Queensland. We also run a number of inspirational mass participation events which gets 20,000 people out riding bikes.

On Sunday 3 May the Great Brisbane Bike Ride will see over 2,000 people pedaling a lap of greater Brisbane, while raising funds for Diabetes Queensland.

This event takes an enormous effort to organise and simply would not be possible without the generous help of a large team of volunteers. Volunteering on for Bicycle Queensland events is all about learning new skills, meeting new people and having fun. There are a wide variety of volunteer roles available at the start and finish as well as along the bike route. Roles include distributing food at rest stops, cheering on the riders, customer service, being a marshal out on the bike route and many more.

We supply you with:
• Volunteer vest
• Insurance cover
• Certificate of Appreciation (by request)
• Sunscreen
• A meal (if you work more than four hours)
• A briefing on your role and responsibilities
