Just a heads up if anyone is having a later ride this Sunday morning: large parts of the bikeway plus go between bridge and probably others have been closed to bikes this morning. Very poor signage; just cones across the path with a tiny notice and no advance warning or detour signs.
Checked now I am home and it is due to the Brisbane Marathon. I know I was not the only one taken by surprise as there were numbers of cyclists milling around looking lost. I am trying to find notice on line about this and haven't so far. Poor form Brisbane Council

They havent had those yellow signs up all over the place for weeks like they do every time a running event is on along those stretches?

Bicentennial bikeway closed this morning

Are you sure it's actually closed to cyclists?
I'm at the foot of the Kurilpa Bridge right now, and there are pedestrians, cyclists and runners all using the bridge.
There are traffic cones and a marshall - the marshall is simply asking all to keep right.

They were everywhere around my place. Just like last year. And signage like on every pole. Interestingly a lot less disruptive than a bloody charity or pet walk....

There have been signs up on the bicentennial bikeway for the last few weeks... Plus on both sides of the Goodwill Bridge.

Yeah, pretty poor form that other sections of the community want to get out and exercise, and worse still, have the hide to use lanes or paths that bikes use!!
I hope they're paying rego...

My gripe was not with the participants but with the organisers. Coming through at 30 in the dark, the first notice I got that the bikeway was closed was witches hats across the lane. Wouldn't get away with that on a road. I have absolutely no problem with giving the marathoners their time on the path; it would have been good to know about it though.
Maybe I am just blind, or maybe I was too tired by that stage of my ride to notice the signs others seem to have seen.
