Looks like we will have to detour via Tennyson Memorial Ave & Fairfield Road while works are done.
We have til the 16th of March to try and block this application.

Why would you want to block it? It's just a road re-alignment and removal of the roundabout.

Would have thought that a more direct route from KAT to ortive st to be a good thing ?

Finding it hard to read that - does it say how long there'll be 'complete closure' for until the new more direct route is open?

There is a pathway which runs along the road and cuts through about 50m after the apartments.

There is no date set yet as they have to wait until the date closes for people to object.
I assume they would be able to come up with one if the project passes.

I do not see anything wrong with the section at the moment.
Recreational/families types can use that pathway.
Which I think will be blocked off during works.
The speed limit is 40 and traffic gets slowed down by all the furniture.
When you get behind somebody in a car on a bike you are usually slowed down further.
Tennyson ave isn't suitable for the amount of detour traffic they will encounter.
I think it's too narrow especially over the bridge & there are many pot holes.
When you merge onto Fairfield Road there is no way of seeing what is coming as they are hidden by the hill.
When driving along you can't see either but at least when cars merge they aren't going 1/3rd slower.
Sure guys like the worlds bunch use this detour but they travel quicker than most.
It only works during the tennis because it's the first week of January.
People are on holidays so not much car traffic and most cyclists are out doing centuries.
Strava suggests 1186 riders through this month, halfway through the third day.
I don't think it's necessary and the detour option I also think is unsuitable for the amount of traffic.
