Hey all, the Tour Down Under has released info on the 2010 Challenge Tour. Most Adelaide riders have probably already heard, but the interstaters might not have yet. Web site above. The route looks pretty good. Any questions about the route, just ask & those of us in SA will be happy to answer any questions. If you came over for it this year, the first climb is very similar going up Gorge Rd, then it takes a different direction on Fox Creek Rd and heads south to Goolwa, a seaside town. 160km in total. This year's had 7000+ riders which is a pretty awesome group to be a part of when riding up into the Adelaide hills.

Note that the FAQ says the jersey sizing is the same as previous years. That is, smaller than the size label would suggest, certainly by one size and perhaps by two.

If you are staying over after the ride then the 20Km coastal stretch from Goolwa to Victor Harbour has a fair amount of accomodation, of all sorts. You will need to book early, since this is a popular school holidays' destination.

If you are driving back to Adelaide from Goolwa then the typical route would be to drive to Victor and then take the highway to Adelaide. This doesn't overlap with the Challenge/TDU course, so if you needed you could leave town before the TDU arrives with no fear of stoppages along the way.

Be interesting to see what the number of riders is after the Lance-comeback mania of last year. In any case the number will be thousands, and it's well worth it. Participants' attitudes range from deadly competitive to 'out for a nice ride', but on the whole there's a more serious tinge than with BikeSA's Coast to Coast (Adelaide-Victor). If you aren't up for 160Km, then the 100Km course looks very pleasant.

The 'discount' for parting with your dosh early is a joke. You save $5
