Good Bike Shop in AdelaideAm moving to Adelaide in October and want to know where I can get work done my by beloved de Rosa and Bianchis.
Obviously it's always contentious to ask such a thing... but who would you recommend for bike servicing (campag), etc... Cycled across West Africa

Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideIn Australia we can't get parts for those exotic bikes and the Australian Bicycle Mechanics Union refuses to work with imported parts. You'll need to get yourself a Ricardo or Malvern Star.
As a service, when you arrive you can hand them over to me and I will make sure they are disposed of properly. Seriously though, there are quite a number of good shops around. North Adelaide Cycles, Corsa Cycle Centre and International Cycle Centre all have good reputations. A quick search through the archives here will reveal more.
Re: Good Bike Shop in Adelaideall good suggestions, Corsa in the city has an excellent reputation. also, Norwood Parade Cycles (Mittiga's) is an Italian specialist; used to be the Colnago store to go to, currently agent Daccordi...
Disclaimer: they're my local
Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideSteer clear of one of Adelaide's oldest bike shops on Rundle street and go to the Exeter (a pub) on Rundle street instead. Your money would be better spent there.

Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideHey guys where is Corsa Cycle Centre?
Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideGrote St. on the right hand side if your heading away from the city. Good shop plan on having a bike fit done there in the next couple of weeks.

Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideNot a fan of corsa's, had some work done there and they didnt have a front derailer clamp there and said they will order it in for me and call me (this was after getting another groupset on my bike), so after three weeks of not hearing anything i rang back, asked if they had the part in yet, he said he had just got some stuff in and he needs to take it out the boxes to sort through and see if it is there and call me back, that was about 3-4 months ago and i havent heard back
I have had nothing but good service from Bicycle Express on Hallifax street, i dont mind spending a bit extra in there than what i would pay on the net cause there is always good service there. Re: Good Bike Shop in Adelaide
+1 hey Stevos, i had a VERY similar run around story from Trak Cycles at Norwood.... needed a 7spd a rear cassette so they ordered one in, 'should be here in a week mate'... waited and waited... called and called... could never get a hold of the same person more than once... 2 weeks went by... i eventually bought the part at B.E. (who were awesome) and got the guys at Trak to put it on (bike was already there getting a general service)... it didnt bother me that they had to wait for a part, it's not their fault, but it did bother me that when my mate goes in who has dropped 15g's in the place on a shmick bike and gear they worship him like he is some bike God but when i had my bike in there getting serviced, getting a part changed, spending 500bucks on new wheels etc etc nobody would even follow up a phone call... ahhh. if only they knew my $1000 set up flys past the $15000 set up in the hills every weekend
Re: Good Bike Shop in Adelaide
This. Not just for roadies though, MTB too.
Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideI dropped into Bio-Mechanics yesterday to ask about some parts. All their business is through word of mouth and they stock stuff that I've found hard to find elsewhere - planetbike, surly, etc.
They didn't have the parts I was after but they sent me an SMS within 24 hours with all the info I was after! I've used North Adelaide Cycles a couple of times recently as well. They're very helpful and let me return wrong parts I bought by mistake without me even having to ask.
Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideTailwind Cycles in Old Reynella.
Very personalised service from Nathan. You can't go wrong. Tim ![]()
Re: Good Bike Shop in Adelaide
For Bianchis I think Glenelg Cycles (ANZAC Highway, Glenelg) is (or may now used to be) a Bianchi dealer - my mate has one and speaks highly of them Sven 93 Avanti MTB (converted to single spd 'ninja bike' bike - full matt black)

Touch down in Adelaide on Sept 24th! Cycled across West Africa

Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideI've been happy with Glenelg Cycles (near The Buffalo) and Megabike in Hyde Park. Glenelg has a nice range of clothes. Megabike is very good at the more technical aspects, such as bike fits, has a good customer relationship programme (rides, classes, etc) and was quite welcoming to a beginner like me (I used to cycle seriously in the '80s, but the gear is somewhat different now).
The bike shop around the corner from my home is Cycle Worx Semaphore, which I've found to be very good at the day-to-day sort of stuff in keeping my 500Km/week bike running. It carries the Avanti range. I'm not as keen on Bicycle Express in the city as some others. They have a good range but every time I've been in the service has been really poor. Eg: when looking around for a new bike in the $3K bracket the sales person said "the bikes are over there <wave of hand>". This didn't inspire any confidence that I'd be getting a bike I'd be happy with.
Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideI hope some of the bike shop staff are having a read in here so they can see the impact of good service and rapport! Nothing worse than being served by uninterested or unhelpful staff and smartass remarks etc.. that's more than enough to turn me off and shop elsewhere.
Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideMy LBS is also cycle worx at semaphore.
i have found the staff very helpful. as i dont ride Avanti i dont get the bike serviced there. but for everyday items they are very good, and informative. Travelling at the speed of slow

And fixed / SS.
Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideThe Bike Station on Brighton Road, Noel and Lindsay are both great on the tools.
Noel is a top bloke and very helpfull. BE in Halifax Street have a good range and helpfull service too! Good luck and watch the buses in Adelaide! because they rarely notice a cyclist! Steve. Last edited by 318ute on Sun Nov 28, 2010 7:26 am, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Good Bike Shop in Adelaide
from my experience i wouldnt get anything serviced at the Blackwwod Megabike store... having said that i have found the servicing at MB at Hyde Park very good... Lindsay does a great job, albeit not a conversationalist Angas at Blackwood? He must have replaced the guy (forget the young "doods" name - dood being his favourite word), but his customer service skills were poor, and his ability to service/fix straight forward problems even worse. In the end had to complain to the Hyde Park store, who then fixed it superbly first go and free of charge (made up for the 4 goes at blackwood).
Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideInteresting comments about Blackwood, I have not had a problem with either of the two mechanics and have had work done on my road bike and mtb.
In saying this, Lindsay is the better man on the tools and at diagnosing a problem, and they are at least interested in doing the work! I can't say the same for two other shops along Unley Rd, both of which were just short of being rude and I am not the only person to have had this experience. Steve. Steve.

Re: Good Bike Shop in AdelaideCorsa cycles are highly recommended, excellent service/advice and great to deal with
Campag experts and they know their stuff. Agree totally with verbs and nouns that money is better spent at the Exeter on rundle street. Dont let me start with that bike shop on there
Re: Good Bike Shop in Adelaide
+1 ^ No surprises here And just to further add to the impecable reputation of that shop... http://bikeshops.mtbr.com/cat/around-th ... 17crx.aspx Steve
