Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...Masochist.
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...I havent tried it from the burnside side (?) yet. Coming down into those hairpins can be pretty hairy, that first one really sneaks up on you, but if its hard as they say going up then Ill have to try it.
When my hill climbing masochist side comes out I kinda wish I had braulovers physique, Im currently 83 plus bike
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...Aww thanks dudes. I'm currently 85kg plus bike. Probably too broad and mesomorphic to ever be a good climber. I'd make a decent wind block though.
My goal is get under 33 minutes by the end of this year. arkle
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...Well, did it last night, and even the new svelte me wasn't quick
Felt good, but it was bloody cold (reminder to self, wear the full bibs rather than brave the cold Put in a solid effort with the HR averaging 84.5% of Max HR, and did it in 34:09. Pretty happy with that and the pacing. Was at 12:50 under the freeway bridge, 21:50 to the EoH MTB turnaround (blue sign) and then the 34:09 to the top. Haven't done much riding, let alone climbing, so pretty happy with that. Not bad for a 94kg tub of lard Thansk for the feedback re Mt Osmond.
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...
Arkle given I have an almost 20kg body weight advantage over you (me 67kg, you 85kg) then anything around the 35min mark for a guy your size is on par with my climbing time (you are 25% heavier than me and doing the ride 25% slower than me). So on a kg/min basis we are riding at the same speed! ![]() Schwinn Madison single speed Trek 1500 Centurion Equaliser Avanti MTB converted to single speed
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...
Given that sort of maths, if I do 40% longer than your 28 miin (and Braulover's), then the equivalent time should be about 39min. I think I'd rather be lighter again ..... So arkle, it between you and me then !!! The race is on to sub 33 min !!!!!
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...Does anyone have a Garmin TCX file recorded in 1 sec intervals from the traffic lights to the bollards that they could send me please?

Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...I really have to have a crack at this climb.
How is it compared to Norton Summit, I rode that on the weekend and did 22min flat.
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...
Sunday or Monday Morning(public hol)? Only done Norton summit once, found it quite easy, no time though.
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...Dave there is a ride going up there on Monday that Im contemplating going on, the only issue is monday morning has f1 at 1.30 and the soccer at 4.30am so Monday might be a tough one, that said im keen to go along. I'll text you if im going to do the ride if you like?
Sunday my wife has her babyshower so ill be helping set up for that im pretty sure.
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...
Text would be good mate. What time, where from, and how many in the group? Dave
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...
Probably the main difference is that Ntn Summit is pretty constant (except that last little bit), whereas the EoH route is more variable, but think the average % gradient is similar. Last edited by MichaelB on Fri Jun 11, 2010 2:22 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...Thanks Michaelb, I expect it to harder than nortons as its a fair bit longer as well. As i said to brauluver i might hit it this weekend so ill see how i go
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...
Did you hit it? How did you go? I managed a paltry 42m48s on Monday. Mind you I had already ridden 79km before I started it! arkle
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...
For which bit from where to where ?
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...Mate i went soft and didnt ride at all, the combination of f1 & Socceroos meant i was in no shape to ride.
Im planning a spin tomorrow so if I go down that way ill let you know how i go.
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...
Portrush traffic lights to the bollards. I seem to get slower every time. arkle
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...
I know the feeling. At one stage, I was able to do Belair Rd in 14:00, and then ended up with many time in the 16+ min despite trying my ass off. Last weekend's 14:10 was the best for a long time. Just grin and bear it and the times will come !!!
Re: Old Freeway Path Leads To...
Had a go again last night - no rain thank god. 33:12 from the lights to bollards Was a cautious ride down though
