Hi Guys,
Just a quick warning for those of us that ride the southern veloway early in the morning, it appears that the "lovely" people of the southern suberbs are up to their old tricks again. As I was getting on the veloway this morning at Honeypot Rd. (Hackham) I discovered thin rope strung around the posts on the entrance track .
So be careful out there and if you catch the little ********** I am sure a pump inserted somewhere will make them reconsider their life choices .

School holidays and scum bags with too much time on their hands. Thanks for the warning, that's my usual Saturday morning route.

Bugger the pump (no pun intended), use a co2 cannister or 2!

another reason i dont use bike paths and just take my chances with the traffic

When you say "again" do you mean that they're doing it at the same place? Or is it in a different place?

When I say again, I have heard of this happening before along the veloway, although I have not experienced it myself (luckily). But, I am sure we can all look back at our younger lives and say that we did things that today we are not proud of, although I don't think I did anything that endangered people to this degree, apart from driving like a moron in my first car

Word on the street in Hobart is that it's some locals who don't like sharing 'their' walking tracks - some have been caught red-handed in the past setting traps on popular MTB tracks by putting logs and rocks etc across tracks. IIRC someone was cleaned up by a fencing wire trap on a designated mtb track in Conningham about 12-18 months ago.

I've hit a strand of fencing wire (dodgy council job, not a trap) at medium speed - managed to get on the brakes and came to a stop without having an off. Had really bad bruising across one bicep and nasty scrapes/bruises on the other - I don't want to think about what would happen if you hit barbed wire at neck height on a downhill track.

thanks for the info - will keep an eye out! With the frequency of these events, perhaps a wire cutter ought to be mounted onto the handlebars

Hope someone catches the little bastards that think this sort antisocial activity is fun.

also of note is the tunnel near macca's at the bottom has a lot of glass in it.... and it's VERY dark.... (usual ride, park at macca's then ride the veloway to willunga and back)

The GF lost a conti competiton tubular with a 5mm slash in it!
