Public meeting - cycle commuting

Postby SeanB » Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:41 am

Hey all,

thought this may be of interest to some here. The following will be hosted by Norwood mP Steven Marshall (taken from e-newsletter)

Bicycle Boulevard Forum

How can we get more people cycling to and from work and school?

Over the past few months, I have been researching new ideas to get people out of their cars and onto bikes.
Come along and contribute to plans for better commuter cycling in Norwood.

The forum will feature a panel including:

Ian Radbone, Transport Planner for Adelaide City Council
Jeremy Miller, Chairperson for BISA
Christian Haag, CEO of Bike SA

Where:
Osmond Terrace Function Centre
97 The Parade
NORWOOD SA 5067

When:
Thursday, 23 September 2010
6-7pm

RSVP:
Monday, 20 September 2010
[email protected]

I reckon i'll check it out.

There was also a recent article in the eastern courier messenger. http://eastern-courier-messenger.wherei ... boulevard/

It would be nice if the cycle lanes were swept once in a while. It;s like riding on Brighton beach, Southbound on Marion Road. That's the one in the UK not Adelaide

I'd like to go and see what people have to say but won't be able to.

I am afraid I can't encourage my kids to ride their bikes, even in Flagstaff Hill, there's just too many clowns in cars for it to be safe.

not much came of it - a bunch of words from BicycleSA and Nike Institute SA to about 50 people who were there to be supportive in the first place, but concluded with a 'unanimous' show of hands supporting the concept of a Bike Boulevard (for Beulah Road, Norwood). I suppose that's something.

50, dont think i agree with your numbers (sorry).
there was a few more than that (double+?), i think the weather kept a few away with a sprinkle of rain just before we peddled off.
