2011 MCCT Stage 4 - TdU; Tips Please!

Hello fellow SA riders,
I have signed up for Stage 4 only of the MCCT (Macclesfield to Strathalbyn). I plan to drive early to Strathalbyn and park the car there preferably close to the oval ( I am aware of road closures, etc), then ride to Macclesfield via Macclesfield Rd for the start. Since this is my first time to ride in ADE (driving from MEL but second year TdU fan), would really appreciate any tips. suggestions. warnings, etc. My first question would be - is it safe to ride on Macclesfield Rd? And how is the ride elevation (hills or small mountains)? I am reasonably fit and can average maybe 22 -26 kph.

Its quite a nice road, not too busy so you should be safe on there (well as safe as you can ever be on a bike, that is). Terrain is hilly but I don't recall anything too difficult. Hope that helps.
