Gorge Road

Gorge Road on Saturday/Sunday morning is a good ride, not much traffic...but does anyone ride it at other times? How do you find the traffic...too dangerous?

I've ridden it fairly often on a weekday morning. There isn't a lot of traffic but there are trucks heading up to the quarry or whatever it is. Haven't had any bad experiences.

I ride up there most Sunday mornings shortly after sunrise and it's mostly deserted. Thursday mornings 9-11 is another time I ride up there and traffic is light and unobtrusive.

Have ridden up Friday mid afternoons 1:30pm no problems and after work several times per week ie 4:30pm and also very good. Nothing beats early morning as the sun rises though. The trucks for the quarry stop before the corkscrew rd turnoff, and are generally aware of bikes from my experience.

agree, the only real problem is the mess they make of the road surface, though.

Up the Gorge is my favourite winter morning ride, but it gets buggering cold once you turn into the Gorge proper. The walls are sheer so it gets very little sun.

Whole lotta rock falls up there lately fellas.....be alert, but not alarmed!

Went up today at about 10 to 10:30 saw maybe 5 cars till the pub, a few small rocks on the side of the road and a dead kangaroo
