Cyclist falls under truck

A cyclist was killed by a truck at Cavan yesterday afternoon.

"Witnesses said the cyclist, who was stationary at the intersection of Port Wakefield and Montague roads, became unbalanced when she attempted to ride off when the traffic lights changed.

She then fell under the front wheels of the semi-trailer."

Does that sound right? How can a cyclist fall under the front wheels of a truck. I wander how close the truck was to her.

Probably is right. It said as she was taking off. So the truck would have been behind or beside her as they took off she lost balance. Fell. And the truck driver didn't realise in time. Just a tragic accident

Next to her at the lights or just coming through when she was about to start ?

Either way, very sad indeed.
