Racing at Victoria Park during the TDU

Racing at Victoria Park during the TDU

Postby Pedaling » Fri Jan 17, 2014 6:12 pm

Hi,
I am heading down to the TDU next week, and I was considering racing with Norwood CC at Victoria Park on Wednesday 22nd in the evening.
I am staying in the city near west and north terrace.
Could someone please tell me where in Victoria Park do they meet, off which road?
What is the best route to get there?
Also will I be able to enter on the night or will I need to pre book?
What is the competition like? Average speeds for the different grades. I currently race B/C grade in Sydney at Heffron.
Thanks,

Darrin.

From the NCC facebook page

Anyone intending to Race in the Norwood Cycling Club Super Series as a first time or a rider from Interstate (not SA), please contact the club and state handicapper David Ladd by Friday this week...or you'll default to A Grade!

Meeting is off of Wakefield rd, you'll see a whole bunch of people milling around about the sign-on tent.

I guess there might be a bit of sand-bagging going on due to the bigger prize money + rapha goodies on offer. But did my first C grade race two weeks ago and average speed was 40km/hr, for 50 minutes. Think the winning sprint was a touch under 60km/hr

Thank you for the info HappyS, really appreciate it.
Will you be racing, spectating at all?
I will be in Randwick Botany colours (black with a red white and blue GT stripe, with the letters RBCC across the front). Hope to see you there.
Thanks again,
Cheers,

Darrin.

No stress. I'm planning to race all three of the NCC events, so Sunday/Monday/Wednesday in C grade. I'll be on the worst bike in the bunch :D
third or fourth hand ~2006 alloy beater with 105 gear & American Classic wheels. Will say g'day.

Cheers HS,
BTW, what is your first name, so I don't have to ask one of your teammates, "Do you know Happysumo?".
